First Reading: Isaiah 25:6-9 6On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-matured wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-matured wines strained clear. 7And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; 8he will swallow up death for ever. Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. 9It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Hear the word of the Lord: Thanks be to God Hymn to the Risen Christ (said antiphonally) Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us: so let us celebrate the feast, not with the old leaven of corruption and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Christ once raised from the dead dies no more: death has no more dominion over him. In dying he died to sin once for all: in living he lives to God. See yourselves therefore as dead to sin: and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ has been raised from the dead: the first fruits of those who sleep. For as by man came death: by man has come also the resurrection of the dead; For as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Second Reading: Acts 10:34-43 34Then Peter began to speak to them: I truly understand that God shows no partiality, 35but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christhe is Lord of all. 37That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: 38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the

Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; 40but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, 41not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. Hear the word of the Lord: Thanks be to God The Gospel: Mark 16:1-8 Alleluia, Alleluia! This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Alleluia! The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark chapter sixteen beginning at the first verse. Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ 1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. 2And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3They had been saying to one another, Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb? 4When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. 5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6But he said to them, Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. 7But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you. 8So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. Eucharist with Bach: The services at both Christ Church and St Matthews are in recess until the 2nd and 3rd of May respectfully. Pleasant Thursday Afternoon: A Pleasant Thursday Afternoon will be held at the Gavan Hall in Broadford, on Thursday, 19 April from 2pm to 4pm. There will be musical entertainment, a produce stall, lucky door prize, a raffle, afternoon tea and of course pleasant company! $5 PER TICKET, EVERYONE IS WELCOME. Parish Friday Night BBQs: All are welcome to these social gatherings. Their aim is twofold: first, is to enjoy each others company and perhaps, get to know each other a little better. And second, to build a sense of community within the parish, and to encourage a unified purpose as a parish community. The BBQs are BYO meat and drink with a salad or desert to share. We will attempt to have these gatherings on the fourth Friday of each month. See the Parish diary for upcoming BBQ dates and venues. Pew Reflections for Easter Day: Grief and fear combined with love and courage gripped the women as they set out on the journey to the tomb. Would they make the journey safely, would the soldiers attempt to stop them, and how would they manage to roll away the stone? Still they pressed on, determined to take this last opportunity to be of service to their Lord and Master. Did the empty tomb alleviate their fears? Not immediately. The empty tomb raised more questions and the answers only came gradually. Every Christian journey has its fill of fear and courage, apprehension and amazement, love and service. From Gerard Manly Hopkins I have learnt that Easter is both a Christian word and a nautical term. To easter is to guide a ship towards the east, towards the light! To easter our lives is to turn our lives towards the light towards Christ, the Light of the world. May Easter become for us a way of living as we journey steadily, and with courage towards the light of eternity. Let us give thanks this day for all who have nourished us in the faith and who are now rejoicing with the Resurrected Christ in eternal glory. Give thanks for the life of the Anglican Communion, for our Chief Bishop the Rt Hon and Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury and for our common life in over 165 countries.
