AS SAHIIFATUS SAADIQAH (THE TRUTHFUL SCRIPTURE) It is reported in the book Asaadul Ghaabah that Hazrath Abdullah Ibn mr Ibn

Al-as was the first person to write Hadith in the presence of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) with his permission, he compiled these Ahaadith in a scripture which he called As Saadiqah. The fact that this scripture is the most authentic historical document which indicates (reveals) that Ahaadith were written during the life-time of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam), increases its significance. This scripture is a collection of a thousand Ahaadith, all of which he (Radhiyallaahu nhu) heard directly from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). One of the merits of Hazrath Ibn mr Al-as is that he was one of the Sahaabah who accepted Islam at a very early stage after its advent. Secondly, he had means at his disposal which enabled him to report much more Ahaadith than the other Sahaabah as he was one of the Sahaabah who was capable of writing, due to this factor he wrote Ahaadith in addition to memorizing Ahaadith. Hazrath Abu Hurayra narrates, no one has reported more Ahaadith that I have from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) than I have except Abdullah Ibn mr Ibn Al-as, as he could write while I couldnt reported by Bukhari. Due to the abundance of Ahaadith Hazrath Ibn mr Ibn Al-as reported, many of the Sahaabah displayed great enthusiasm to listen to him. Ummul Mumineenah Hazrath Ayisha (Radhiyallaahu nha) once said to Urwah Ibn Az-zubayr, O` son of my sister! It has reached me that Ibn mr Ibn Al-as will be passing by while on his way for Hajj, so make it a point of meeting him and seeking knowledge from him as he has acquired a great deal of knowledge from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). Ibn Sad reports that Ibn mr Al-as said, I sought the permission of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu layhi Wasallam) to write whatever I hear from him, so he (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) gave him permission to write. (Tabaqaat). The reason why he called it As saadiqah is because he wrote the Ahaadith while Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) was reporting to it. Imaam Mujaahid Ibn Al-Jubayr Al-Makki states, I have seen a scripture with Hazrath Ibn mr Ibn Al-as so I asked him about it, and he replied this is As Saadiqah, it contains whatever I have heard from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) directly. Reported by Ibn Sad.
