Moonshadows biggest issue was how should he live his life?

When he was young (beginning), he wasnt very intelligent and hasnt seen much of the world so he didnt know what to do with his life. As he grows older, he gets more intelligence and he begins to see the world differently but still not the same as his fathers view of the world. His father sees the world as a big test to see if he is worthy to become a dragon again. Near the end, he realizes that life is nothing, what you do with it is what matters. He then realizes that what he needs to do is to pursue his dream no matter what. The quality that I most admire of Moonshadow is his bravery. In the beginning, when he first arrives at America, he is scared of the machines in his fathers room because he has never seen them. At that time period, Chinas technology was way behind Americas technology so for Moonshadow, its like going from 1812 to 2012. Also, the paper in the room is different for Moonshadow. In China at that time, they used rice paper, a thinner kind of paper while Americans used the kind of paper we use today. Well, since I am Chinese, I already understood the cultural differences between Americans and Chinese. But this book helped me to understand the hardships my race had to endure to be able for the Chinese culture to be acknowledged in the US. Before I read this book, I thought that Chinese people at that time was just not accepted in the US and was hard to come to the US. Now that I have read this book, I realize that the Chinese were victims of racism, segregated in many public areas, and lynched. The main issue that affects the Chinese in America is racism. During this time period, people all over the world are immigrating to America but the Americans want America to be an all-American country. To achieve that, the people in America will do anything, including lynching, segregation, and racism. Racism at that time was also an issue for African-Americans. Since African-Americans used to be slaves, they were thought as not people, but property. But since the 13th amendment was passed, all slaves were free and the southern people were not happy so they treated the African-Americans very badly and soon it started happening all throughout the country! But the African-Americans have been in America while the Chinese came here from China, so the Chinese were treated even worse than the AfricanAmericans because the Americans did not want illegal immigration happening. Since Im Chinese, I can understand how Moonshadow and the other Chinese immigrants feel and I am proud of the Chinese immigrants who stayed and lived out racism to spread the Chinese culture throughout America.
