Genetics Student Association Fall 2009-Present

*Vice President of External Affairs *The purpose of the association is to create environments where students can gather to share their interest in genetics. We create opportunities for students to share and grow their interests by hosting seminars and social events. *I publicize seminars and events and maintain the club website. I also plan social and philanthropic events for the club. United Hospice of Athens Fall 2009-Fall 2011 *I volunteered twice a week in this hospice in order to provide patients mental and social support. I did various activities that helped to engage them and emotionally strengthen them. Global Medical Training-Nicaragua December 2011 *Practiced hands-on medicine under the direct supervision of Dr. Wil Johnson M.D. in underserved Nicaraguan villages while learning the art of primary care medicine in a global perspective. Thomas Lay After-School Mentoring Fall 2010 Present *Strive to make an impact on the future education of elementary school students by going to an assigned classroom once a week for 3 hours and tutoring them on homework. I attend my assigned classroom twice a week and present lectures on various science topics in order to improve the science experiences and science content knowledge of elementary students in the Clarke County area. Article Publication Summer 2012-Present *I am a freelance writer and write articles on various medical topics. To date, I have written two articles.
