DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Ward Nurse:

Assess patients by asking the chief complaint, history of past and present illness and family history of illnesses, socio-economical status, work and lifestyle using nurse assessment sheet; identifies nursing needs of patients; and give appropriate nursing care and intervention. Admit patient as ordered by the physician and may develop and implement discharge planning process on admission of patient. Observes strict sterile technique. Observes signs and symptoms related to patients clinical status and its possible complication, institutes remedial action when appropriate and record in the chart and report symptoms and changes in patients conditions to the physician Administer medications and treatments through oral, intravenous and intramuscular injection and carries out doctor's legal order as prescribed or according to establish policies and protocols Acts as a liaison between patient and hospital personnel interprets to the patient and his family their roles in promoting successful therapy and rehabilitation. Prepares patient for, and assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Assists physician when examining patient. Performs gastric gavage and lavage by inserting naso-gastric tube, does catheterization using straight and Foley catheter, and administer soap-sage and fleet enema as ordered by the physician. Perform health teachings to patient and significant others in collaboration with other health care providers. Maintains a good relationship with patient, significant others and other hospital personnel.

Emergency Room Nurse:

Assess the patients injuries or condition upon reception Takes the patients vitals such as weight, temperature and blood pressure. Records information and give to the attending physician. Responsible for carrying out the care plan the doctor prescribes. Administers medications or injects shots. Responsible for attending to and monitoring patients in emergency rooms. Assist doctors in doing procedures. Kept records of all patients of emergency rooms Responsible for assessing, evaluating and implementing the patient health care plans Maintains a good relationship with all patients and staff. Admit patients and endorse them to ward for the continuity of care.
