$206,500 US Private 133,815 165,623 The splendid results in all sectors of the market solidly confirm that Christies is the world leader for ancient art at auction, said G. Max Bernheimer, International Head of Antiquities. Some of the most exciting moments of the sale was the battle for the exceptional Roman marble figure of an actor, which soared to eight times the low estimate, selling for $926,500, and the Egyptian painted linen votive, sold on behalf of Long Islands Hecksher Museum for an incredible $782,500, said Molly Morse Limmer, Department Head for Antiquities in New York and the sales auctioneer. We were especially pleased with the results for the ancient glass collection from the Wunsch Foundation, which sold for $271,375. We look forward to the Fall Season, with sales scheduled for October in London, and December in New York.
