Accounting Financial Analyst Canada Finance

Location: Calgary, AB Posting Start Date: April 3, 2012 Posting Closing Date: April 11, 2012

Chevron Canada is currently searching for an experienced finance professional to join the Midstream Chevron Natural Gas Finance team as an Accounting Financial Analyst to support gas trading activities in the Calgary, AB office.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide financial expertise and knowledge in the following: Interprets contractual, pricing, logistical (pipeline) and other source documents required to invoice customers and pay suppliers. Validate general ledger entries for revenue, receivable, expense, and payables associated with sale and purchase transactions. Subject matter expert in the trade accounting system (Endur). Provide local expertise on system upgrade projects. Understands, analyzes, and explains the financial impacts of all sales and purchase transactions. Presents information to internal groups and operating management as needed. Work closely with traders, schedulers, peer and external customers to understand contractual terms, pricing, and transportation logistics for the assigned area of responsibility. Recommends solutions to non-routine accounting, systems and work process issues. Communicates with internal and external customers when appropriate. Work closely with other members of the group to ensure business, accounting and regulatory changes are understood and implemented. Processes payments, on a timely basis, through SAP. Ensures cash receipts are appropriately monitored and that customers are paying on-time.

Processes and completes the month end financial close in SAP. Reconciles SAP financial data to the trade accounting system. Complete regulatory reporting requirements. Manage compliance requirements. Accurately calculate and reconcile gas inventory at various storage locations Contributes to the analysis and reporting of product margins and financial statement components.

Qualifications / Selection Criteria:

We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications: An accounting degree or diploma and/or pursuit of an accounting designation. Oil and gas industry marketing accounting experience is strongly preferred. Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with various customers (both internal and external). Proficient in spreadsheet design and provide detailed spreadsheet documentation Ability to understand complex issues quickly, analyze available data and develop appropriate solutions. An understanding of SAP. Knowledge of Endur is preferred, but not mandatory. Must be able to work independently.
