UNIT 1: PLANTS: Anatomy, Growth and Function Chapter 14: Plant Characteristics and Functions Chapter 15: Using Plants Other Materials: Section 16.2, Section 9.5 Focus on: o Vascular bundles (components and functions) o Movement of materials in plants (Section 9.5) o Structure and function of leaves, stems, and roots o Functions of plant hormones o Adaptations of plants to different habitats (hydro, meso and xerophytes) UNIT 2: ANIMALS: Structure and Function Chapter 8: The Breath of Life Chapter 9: Transport and Circulation Chapter 10: Nutrients, Digestion and Nutrition You are responsible for Figure 8.16, Figure 9.25 and Figure 10.10 Focus on: o Importance of surface area to improve efficiency of function o How the circulation system is connected to both the Respiratory and Digestive systems in humans o The various gas exchange sites and their characteristics o Survey of the development from primitive systems to advanced systems in gas exchange, circulation and digestion UNIT 3: Genetic Processes Chapter 4: Heredity Chapter 5: Cellular Reproduction and Chromosomes Chapter 7: Human Genetics You will not be given problems where you have to show your work. Your study to include Figure 5.13. The majority of this unit will be examined using multiple choice questions. Here are two examples:
