NONE HAS THE RIGHT TO BE WORSHIPPED EXCEPT
ALLAAH

(

[Soorah Yoosuf (12):108]
[[ Say: This is my way: I call to Allaah upon clear knowledge: myself and those who follow
me, and I declare Allaah free of having any partner or anyone deserving of worship along
with Him; and I am not from those who associate others in worship with Him.]]

From Ibn `Abbaas radiyallaahu `anhumaa that when Allaahs Messenger sent Mu`aadh
to Yemen, he said to him: << You are going to a people from the People of the Scripture, so
let the first thing that you call them to be the testification that none has the right to be
worshipped except Allaah and in a narration: that they should single out Allaah with all
worship. So if they obey you in that, then inform them that Allaah has made obligatory
upon the five Prayers every day and night. So if they obey you in that, then inform them that
Allaah has made obligatory upon them a charity to be taken from their rich ones and given
to their poor ones. So if they obey you in that, then beware of taking the best parts of their
wealth; and beware of the supplication of the oppressed person, for there is no barrier
between it and Allaah.>> The two of them reported it.3

And the two of them report from Sahl ibn Sa`d radiyallaahu `anhu that Allaahs
Messenger said, on the day of Khaybar: << I shall give the flag tomorrow to a man who
loves Allaah and His Messenger, and who is loved by Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah will
grant victory at his hands.>> So the people spent the night discussing (yadookoon) which
of them would be given it. So when they entered the morning they went to Allaahs
Messenger , each one of them hoping that he would be given it. So he said: << Where is
`Alee ibn Abee Taalib?>> So it was said: He has an ailment in his eyes. So they sent for him,
and he was brought. So he spat lightly into his eyes, and supplicated for him, and he was
cured, such that it was as if he had not suffered from any complaint. So he gave him the
flag, and said: << Proceed with ease until you reach their area. Then call them to Islaam,
and inform them what is obligatory upon them with regard to the rights of Allaah the
Most High in it, for by Allaah! That Allaah should guide a single man through you will be
better for you than fine red camels.>> yadookoon means: they were discussing.
