Discoverers learn about natve animals through guided discov-
ery, imaginatve play, short hikes, games and crafs. The story-
tme afer lunch helps this group to reenergize. Children of this
age feel more at ease when they are given the opportunity to
atend two or more sessions. Rato of 1 staf to 5 campers.
EXPLORERS
Ages 7 - 8, Entering grades 2 - 3

Learn about adaptatons and behaviors of natve speices and
explore the habitats of Moose Hill, hike further and play more
challenging games with your group. Explorers who atend two
or more sessions may choose to take the Nature Challenge and
earn a Junior Naturalist Award. Farm Mania sessions are open
to campers entering grade 3. Rato of 1 staf to 8 campers.
INVESTIGATORS

As an Investgator you will delve deeper into the web of life as you
make comparisons between natve Massachusets species and
those from other places. You and your team may act as mentors
to younger campers, explore sites of-trail and might even climb
the fre tower! Develop new skills and expand your horizons by
adding a specialty campCreatve Arts, Farm Mania, Science,
and/or Adventure Camp session to your summer.

About Nature Day Camp...Let beautful Moose Hill Wildlife
Sanctuary be your childs neighborhood play space! Our goal is
to connect children to nature and let them have fun through a
blend of outdoor exploratons, non-compettve games, focused
actvites, walks/hikes and crafs. On warm days, we play water
games like Drip, Drip, Splash and keep to the shaded forest.
Each age group of Nature Camp enjoys diferent daily topics
though all groups enjoy the same weekly theme. The content
and objectves are diferent at each level with the goal to
deepen each childs knowledge and awareness throughout the
summer and over the years.
Campers are welcome to atend all 12 diferent weekly sessions,
each with its own theme. Dates and themes are described on
the next page.

PRESCHOOL PEEPERS

Our preschool program is designed to encourage your childs
curiosity, increase sensory awareness and provide an introduc-
ton to outdoor investgatons. Lead instructors have specifc
training and experience working with preschoolers. Children
must be poty-trained and be 3 years old before June 15th.
Pack a snack and lunch. Full Day Peepers have an hour lie
down/rest tme afer lunch. Preschoolers are always more com-
fortable if they can atend more than one session.
Please note that preschool specialists are not scheduled for the
Extended Day Optons. Please speak with the Director before
registering for this opton.

Super Senses June 11 15 Week 1
What would it be like to see in ultraviolet? Can you imagine
smelling food a mile away. Learn which animals have super
senses while you test your ownfollow a scent trail, see
in the dark, and more during this actve week of games and
experiments. Please notethere is no Peeper group ofered
this week, but Science Camp is ofered for ages 9 - 13. Public
schools are stll in session.
Wild or Mild June 18 22 Week 2
A tabby and a tger, a corgi and a coyote, learn about the wild
relatves of some common domestcated animals what char-
acteristcs do they share and what makes them respond so dif-
ferently to people. Make a simple animal costume.
*Snow Day Plan: Register now and we will adjust the fee by $45
per snow day used by your school.

Hide or Seek June 25 29 Week 3
Snapping turtles hang out untl their food foats by while kes-
trels search the skies. Learn the techniques used by animals to
fnd food and stay safe. Enjoy a scavenger hunt, role-playing
games and join the camp-wide Predator-Prey game!
The Wonders of Water July 2, 3, 5, 6 Week 4
Fish make the water their home. Rocks are shaped by water.
Water is more than something you drink as youll learn through
experiments and exploratons. No camp on Wed, July 4th.

Born to Build July 9 13 Week 5
Beavers build dams, birds make nests out of everything from
grass to spit, wasps chew wood into paper-mache animals
build all sorts of homes so they can stay warm, be protected,
and raise their young. Try your hand at constructng a home
for a shrew!
Show Ofs! July 16 20 Week 6
Although animals spend a lot of tme hiding so they can stay
safe, at other tmes they put on displays to claim mates or take
on the role of leader of the pack. Imaginaton games and crafs
have you mimicking some of natures biggest show-ofs!
Stripes, Spots & Spirals July 23 27 Week 7
Both plants and animals have paterns that not only provide
protecton but help living things grow. Explore branch pat-
terns in trees, the camoufaging techniques of herds, and a
secret patern in pine cones. Make an item for our camou-
fage trail and then see what you can discover!
In the Dark July 30 August 3 Week 8
Whether you are an animal that moves around at night or
one that moves underground or deep in the ocean, there are
special challenges to fnding your way in the dark. Test senses
other than sight and discover what life is like for moles, owls,
and squid.
A Buggy Good Time August 6 10 Week 9
Investgate the secret world of insects living in our forests and
ponds. Use bug boxes and magnifying glasses to get a closer
look. Search for bugs while playing games that show you how
insects eat, hide, move and fnd mates.
Creep, Leap, & Fly August 13 17 Week 10
Whether an animal pads along on paws or fings their wings
to the air, how animals get around keeps them safe, helps
them fnd food, and allows them to explore their environ-
ment. Make crafs that move and play games that keep you
moving!
Walk and Roll August 20 24 Week 11
Think of all the ways things in nature get moved about
water carries rocks and soil to new locatons, birds and mam-
mals transport seeds, the wind blows down trees. Wander the
trails looking for natures transportaton connectons. Have
fun trying your moves in our obstacle course!
Cute, Cuddly or Not August 27 31 Week 12
Baby animals appear to be cuddly but are they? Discover the
survival adaptatons of diferent young animals. Bring in your
baby picture to share! Sharon Public Schools (grades 1 - 12) are
in session on Wednesday and Thursday only of this week.

About Farm Mania Camp...Enjoy hands-on actvites as you
learn what it means to be a farmer. Explore the felds and
sample fresh vegetables, visit Wards Berry Farm and dabble
at Wolomolopoag Pond. Campers may be divided into two
groups by age. Rato of 1 staf to 8 campers.
Locaton...Drop of and pick up your campers at our CSA
Barn, 4 Moose Hill St. (near South Main St.). Nature Camps
fexible schedule allows you to easily have children at both
locatons. Extended day campers will be shutled to and
from this locaton in our 12-passenger van.

Nature of the Farm July 16 20 Week 6
Explore the farm property and learn about how this habitat
is home to many diferent creatures. What hidden secrets
lie beneath a leaf or within the soil? Whos leaving those
tracks and where did they go? Perhaps, the forest edge will
tell me so!
Fresh Food I July 23 27 Week 7
Discover the diference between fruits and vegetables,
what they need to fourish, when and how to pick them
and why they are healthy for us. Visit a cow, learn the
about diferent breeds and make our own cheese.

Farm Bugs and Slugs August 6 10 Week 9
Investgate our fruits and vegetables in search of tny
creatures that crawl, scurry, fy, slime, and devour. Learn
the skills needed to become an amateur entomologist and
plant pathologist, and help our plants fourish.
Fresh Food II August 13 17 Week 10
In this popular session youll learn the diference between
fruits and vegetables, what they need to fourish, when
and how to pick them and why they are healthy for us.
Visit a cow, learn the about diferent breeds and make our
own cheese. Moo-tastc!

About Creatve Arts Camp...Nature inspires us! Most weeks will
include an instructonal session by a visitng artst. Afernoons
are a blend of hikes, games and more artstc projects. Empha-
sis is on self-expression and experimentaton as well as enhanc-
ing your technique. Rato of 1 staf to 10 campers.

Art in 3-D June 25 29 Week 3
Experiment with form and texture as you use plaster, wire, clay,
fabric and more! Try your hand at found object sculpture, eco-
sculpture and other contemporary media.
Beyond the Line July 2, 3, 5 and 6 Week 4
Draw inside, outside and upside down on cement, paper and
more as we have fun going beyond the line. Explore light and
shadow with the use of charcoal, pastels, ink and other media.
No camp on July 4th. 4-day Fee: $230 member, $295 nonmember
Food Art July 9 13 Week 5
From cupcake design to mosaics with food its all about the
wacky world of food art! Build spaghet sculptures, play foodie
games and more. No nut or peanut products will be used.
Collage Craze July 16 20 Week 6
Awaken your senses and discover the contemporary art form of
collage. Work with paper, paints, photos, fabric and more while
learning to use color and texture in collage constructon.

Discovery-scape July 23 27 Week 7
Cultures throughout tme have represented landscapes,
city-scapes, and seascapes in various ways through their art.
Explore each type as you make paintngs, drawings, and relief
sculpture based on real and imaginary scapes.
Beautful You July 30 August 3 Week 8
People express themselves through jewelry, body art and hair
style. Learn the techniques and skill behind beauty. Discover
which colors look best on you, make loton, create a necklace
from natural materials, try your hand a henna art, and more!
Theatre Art August 6 10 Week 9
Explore the history of theatre art, create a theatrical mask
inspired by Commedia dellarte, learn the art behind set design
and create a set model. Put on a shadow puppet producton!
Art Inspired August 13 17 Week 10
The masters are our inspiraton. Try your hand at paintng on
plaster like Michelangelo; experiment with bold, colorful stokes
as did Matsse; and dots like van Gogh!
Art of Printmaking August 20 24 Week 11
Discover the technique used to transfer images. Screen-print a
tee shirt, hammer a fern print, carve images from a variety of
materials for printng, make a paint-on-glass transfer and more!

About Adventure Camp...Each session includes group games,
challenges and day trips using our 12-passenger van and
car. Sessions with the symbol include overnights and most
include swimming. Any meals we provide are kosher, except
week 5. Two staf lead the trips. An itnerary and agreement
will be sent upon registraton. Rato of 2 staf to 10 campers.
Outdoor Adventures June 18 22 Week 2
Explore Rocky Woods for an old quarry site and enjoy the view
from the top of Cedar Hill. Play a round of Frisbee golf and ca-
noe a peaceful river. Learn to use a map and compass and put
your skills to use in an orienteering course!
Snow Day Plan: Register now and we will adjust the fee by $85
per snow day used by your school. Fee: $425 m, $490 nm
Amazing Predators! June 25 - 29 Week 3
Walk in the woods with a real wolf and listen for the pack to
howl back at you during your day at Wolf Talk! Check out live
raptors and determine the predatory strengths of a fsher. Play
predator/prey with the entre camp. Fee: $425 m, $490 nm
Farm to Table July 2, 3, 5, 6 Week 4
Test your taste buds, does freshness mater? Visit a farm, en-
joy a farmers market and a behind the scenes tour of Whole
Foods Market. Speak with chefs at a restaurant to learn how
and what they decide to serve. 4-day Fee: $315 m, $380 nm

Into the Wild July 9 13 Week 5
Enjoy camping, canoeing, orienteering, low and high ropes
challenges, hiking, swimming, and other adventures. Spend
Wednesday and Thursday night in NH at Wildwood, Mass
Audubons overnight camp. Fee: $545 m, $610 nm
Rock Adventures July 16 20 Week 6
Bring a hammer and collect minerals at Ruggles Mine in NH!
Explore Purgatory Chasm and try to squeeze through the nar-
row caves. Enter an ancient rock structure in Acton and dis-
cover the cool geo-spots of Sharon. Fee: $425 m, $490 nm

Awesome Weather August 6 10 Week 9
View weathers destructve power while helping a community
hit by the 2011 tornado! Tour the Blue Hill Observatory and
interview a weather forecaster at NOAA. Learn more about

lightning, build your own weather staton and present your
weather forecast at closing circle! Atend week 9 of Adventure
Camp to tour NOAA and visit other weather sites.
Music in Nature July 9 - 13 Week 5
Why cant we sing like the birds? Try your hand at making a
penny whistle sound like a thrush, drum a hoof beat patern
and more while learning about natures music and folk music!
Survival Science July 30 - August 3 Week 8
Learn to distll drinking water, light a fre, tell tme by the sun
and build your own compass. Search for edible plants and
discover which bugs make good snacks (eatng one is optonal).

Challenge yourself and work on your leadership skills while
having fun with other teens! Together you will enjoy group
building games, work on a service-learning project, and develop
kid-friendly nature actvites that will help you to succeed as a
Leader-in-Training (LIT). Enjoy a van excursion from 3p - 6p on
Thursday afernoon. This program is open to all teens, not only
those who will be LITs. Those who atended this program last
year are welcome to atend!

About Extended Day...The regular Moose Hill Camp day
includes a drop-of window from 8:50a - 9:15a and a pick-
up window of 3:15p. Let us know if you need a 4p pickup
window because of the train. There is no window beyond
6p. Preschool specialists are not on duty during these
optons. Contact the camp director if you have questons.
Pre-registraton is required.
Our camp instructors enjoy being with campers during
these informal periods. The schedule is:
8 - 9a Before Care Opton: Campers are welcome to
bring their breakfast, read or play.
3 - 4p Late Opton: A kosher snack is provided fol-
lowed by a choice tme of play or reading in the
camp yard.
4 - 5:30 Afer Care Opton: Campers may choose from
a variety of actvites that may include games in the
pine grove, a stroll along the trails, restul games, or
crafs. Signs are posted at the camp gate informing
parents who arrive during this tme period as to where
to fnd the campers.
5:30 - 6p Pickup Time: Campers will be playing near
the vistor center.

Are you looking for job experience or volunteer service hours?
If you enjoy children and want to learn new skills, please apply
to join our dynamic group of Leaders-in-Training (LITs)! Partci-
pate in training sessions, lead games, assist camp groups, and
learn to teach actvites. State regulatons require LITs to be at
least 14 years old as of June 15th.
A minimum commitment of three Nature Camp and/or Farm
Mania sessions is required. If this is your frst year as an LIT and
you do not register for Leadership Camp, your frst two weeks
must be consecutve. You must atend the training session on
Sunday, June 10th from 1 - 3:30p. A $10 per session discount is
given to those teens who atend our Leadership Camp.

ADVENTURE CAMP

We have expanded the age range of our Adventure Camp
to include 14 year olds for every session. Check out the
new themes and trips on page 5!

ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION: Your confrmaton,
forms and parent informaton packet will be emailed
to you unless you specifcally request snail mail.
ABOUT US: Moose Hill Camp began in 1949 and is located at
Mass Audubons Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary. We provide a
welcoming environment with fewer than 120 campers each
week. Campers are encouraged to play with siblings and
other children of diferent ages during free play periods. The
camp is held primarily out-of-doors and the nature center
is used for rainy moments. The 20 miles of trails and varied
habitats of the sanctuary are ours to explore.
CAMPER REQUIREMENTS: Due to the outdoor and explor-
atory nature of our camp program, campers must be able to
move about on uneven terrain. Campers are expected to par-
tcipate meaningfully in age-appropriate actvites, including
nature study. All campers must follow stated behavior expec-
tatons and safety rules. If you have any questons regarding
your childs ability to partcipate fully in our camp program,
contact the camp director.
AGE/GRADE: Camp age is determined as of June 15. Pre-
school Peepers must be 3 and poty-trained. Discoverers
must be 4 prior to January 30th and entering kindergarten.
Campers are grouped by age depending on enrollment.
STAFF and RATIOS: Camp director, Kay Andberg, has been
with us since 1993. Her children grew up at Moose Hill Camp
and she wants yours to enjoy the same quality programs.
Staf are selected for their maturity and caring attude to-
wards children. Most are college students majoring in science
or educaton. All staf undergo background checks and train-
ing in safety, child development and nature study. The few
junior staf that are hired are selected for their maturity and
are paired with instructors. Instructors are certfed in frst
aid and CPR. Two staf lead of-site programs.
BUDDY REQUESTS are intended for children who would oth-
erwise feel too uncomfortable to atend camp. One request
per camper is honored when possible and only if made in
writng at least one week prior to the session start. Campers
must be the same age as of June 15 and both must request
each other.
CAMP LICENSE: We are licensed by the Sharon Board of Health
and comply with the regulatons of the Department of Public
Health. We are accredited by the American Camp Associaton
and adhere to its additonal safety standards.
POLICIES: You may request a copy of our staf background
check, healthcare, discipline, bullying and grievance policies.
MEMBERSHIP helps to meet our missionProtectng the Na-
ture of Massachusets and connectng children to nature. To
receive the member rate, your membership of family-level or
higher, must be current through your last session. You can join
or update your membership on the camp registraton form.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Moose Hill provides fnancial assis-
tance to campers based on demonstrated economic need and
available funds. Financial assistance is limited to one session
per child. The majority of funds are reviewed on April 25th.
Contact us for an applicaton.
PAYMENT PLANS: Please contact the camp ofce if you
would like to discuss a payment plan.
DEPOSITS of $75 per week are required. All deposits are non-
refundable. See the transfer policy below. When registering
afer May 15th, payment is required in full. It is your responsi-
bility to know your school calendar.
DEADLINE: All health forms and the balance of your fees are
due on or before May 15th, unless special arrangements are
made with the Camp Registrar. Those registering afer May
15th pay in full and a specifc form deadline will be set. A Late
Fee of $20 per camper is automatcally accrued for any late or
incomplete forms and/or payments. No camper is allowed in
camp unless all health forms, waivers and payments are com-
plete. If deadlines are missed, we cannot guarantee your spot.
TRANSFER POLICY: Transfers are allowed up to 4 weeks prior
to a session start, afer which tme there are no transfers. A
$25 fee is charged for each session transferred.
REFUND and CANCELLATION POLICY: Refunds are not made
for dismissal, failure to atend, absence or sick days. All can-
cellatons must be made in writng. If you cancel prior to May
15th, you will be given a full refund minus the deposit. If you
cancel prior to 4 weeks of the frst day of your session, you
will receive a 50% refund only if the program is full and we fll
your slot. No refunds are given afer this date.
