Setup
Step 1 Create a folder for your group Step 2 Share this folder with each member of your group; Mrs. Lymaster & Mr. Hellenthal Step 3 Create a the following with the folder: presentation, spreadsheet; drawing; form
Each should be named as follows: (Your Group's Name + Chapter # + the kind of Google Tool) Ex: Group A's Chapter 1 Presentation

Directions & Expectations

1) Everyone in your group is responsible for participating. You will be receiving an individual grade and a group grade for this ELearnfolio 2) Every step needs to be completed in order and according to the start and stop dates that we provide you as you work through this project.

Directions & Expectations

3) It is up to your group to determine who performs various tasks. Try to determine individual strengths of your members and let that guide who does what. Also, try to help and teach your team members new skills along the way.

4) FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!!! Your ability to do this will be part of your final grade

Directions & Expectations

5) Each time you are asked to complete and activity and/or link something into your presentation... Label the slides appropriately according to the activity or task number/name. If we ask you to give something a specific name, make sure that you name it properly. 6) When you complete an activity and place it into your presentation, make the background the same color as found in this blueprint.

Directions & Expectations

7) Be responsible and show maturity. Be respectful and cooperative. Be on-task and focused. Do your part... show initiative. Know when to lead and know when to follow. Be creative. Take pride in what you do.

HAVE FUN!!

Activity 1.1a
Create a table using the Google Spreadsheet your group placed into your group folder. Have a "column" for each of the 3 main categories of science that are listed on the next slide.
Research and list 10 items that would be an example of each kind of science. Place the examples under the appropriate columns

Activity 1.1a
3 Main Categories of Science 1) Life Science 2) Earth Science 3) Physical Science

Activity 1.1a
Link the spreadsheet into your presentation. Be sure to name it "Spreadsheet Activity 1.1a"

Activity 1.1b
Use Google Drawings to recreate the concept-map on page #33 in your book. Use the blank Google Drawing that you previously created. This should be done as a group. Find a role for each member of your group and make sure that everyone learns how to use Google Drawings.

Activity 1.1b
Each person in your group should now create a Google Drawing. The drawing should be in your group folder and contain the same information as the group drawing.

Make sure you include your name

NEW STEP
Create a new presentation and name it: "Your name's Chapter 1 PS ELP" Share it with Chad Hellenthal

Create slides titled: Activity 1.1.C 1.1.D

1.1.E

1.1.F

Activity 1.1c
Use your Google Document to answer the following questions. Be sure to number each question and rephrase the question when you give the answer. Ex: The difference between scientific law and theory is that..... 1) What is the difference between scientific law and scientific theory 2) What are the 6 steps of the scientific method?

Activity 1.1c
3) What is the difference between an independent and a dependent variable? 4) What is the difference between a constant and a control

5) How are conclusions drawn?

6) What does it mean to remain objective?

Activity 1.1c
7) What does it mean if a researcher shows bias? Link the document into your presentation that you used to answer all of these questions. Name it "Activity 1.1c questions"

Activity 1.1d
Use Google Drawings to create a graphic organizer that shows the difference between scientific law and scientific theory.

Create a new Google Drawing to do this and make sure it is located in your group folder.
Name it "Scientific Law Graphic Organizer"

Activity 1.1d
Link this graphic organizer into your presentation. Create a new Document and write a 1 paragraph summary of about the differences between a scientific law and a scientific theory. Link this Document back into your presentation. Call is "Scientific Law

Activity 1.1e
In your presentation make a new slide(s) for each of the vocabulary words found on the next several slides. For each word give the definition and place a short educational video on the slide.

Activity 1.1e
Scientific Method Hypothesis Independent Variable

Dependent Variable
Scientific Law

Activity 1.1e
Scientific Theory Scientific Model Scientific Bias

Activity 1.1f
Use your Google Form to develop a short quiz. You need to come up with a minimum of 10 questions. There needs to be a variety of different types of questions.
When finished link this quiz into your presentation.

Activity 1.1.g

Standards of Measurement

Go

A. Units and Standards

-Standard is an exact quantity that people agree to use to compare measurements -Must be accurate!!!!!!!!

B. Measurement Systems
-For measurement to make sense, it must include a number and unit. -International System of Units (SI) was created in 1960 and is universally accepted.

Activity 1.2 a
Create a spreadsheet using the 7 base units found on page 15 of your book.

C. Common Prefixes
-Prefixes are based on multiples of 10. -When Converting you multiply 1 m = 100cm=1000mm 3075 mm to cm

3075mm/1 x 100cm/1000mm = 307.5cm

Activity 1.2 B
Create a spreadsheet for the six common SI prefixes on page 15.

D. Measurement
-Measuring Distance-Meter is the base unit -Measuring Volume-Mililiter (ML), Liter (L) -Measuring Matter-Mass per unit -Time-measured in seconds Temperature: SI-Kelvin scale 0 degree Kelvin is absolute zero=-273 degrees

Activity 1.2 c
Create a table with the following common temperatures: Boiling Point Freezing Point 100 degrees C 0 degrees C 212 degress F 32 degrees F 373 degrees K 273 degress K

Communicating with Graphs

Reading Graphs Video

A. Graphs
-Display data visually -The type of graph used is based on conclusions Identified. Three Types: 1. Line Graph-Based on how a relationship changes over time. 2. Bar Graph-Useful for comparing info collected by counting 3. Circle Graphs-How fixed quantity is broken down into parts.

Activity 1.3 a
Create a Line Graph Create a line graph using the following information: Clancy's grades began to improve the longer he studied. The results are as follows: Time (Minutes): 10 15 20 25 30 Grade (%): 70% 72% 78% 81% 85%

Activity 1.3 B
Create a bar graph with the following information: Jerry took a survey on the types of pets his classmates own. The results are as follows: cats-5; dog-10; birds-2; turtles-4; fish-8

Activity 1.3 C
Create a Circle (Pie) Graph with the following information: Jojo wanted to create a circle graph for her monthly expenses. She earns $2000 a month. Her expenses are as follows: House-$600; Car-$400; Food-$300; Utilities$200; Clothes-$200; Cell phone-$100; Personal Care-$150; other-$50 Are there any ares that Jojo could cut back expenses?

Plans
Insert video about the scientific method Do an activity where they have to use scientific method to predict Graphing activity
