PROJECT PRESENTATION ON ELECTRONIC CAR JACK

UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF PROF. S.S. CHAUHAN

12/31/12

Introduction
A jack is a device which lifts heavy

equipment.
Car jack is used to raise a car for

maintenance and repair.

Car jack is also needed when we get

a flat tire.

12/31/12

Problem Statement
To design and develop electronic

car jack that operates on power obtained from car battery only if no external power source is required thus reducing human effort.

12/31/12

PROJECT MOTIVATION
Many people reported that changing

a car tire using existing(manually operated) jack is not a very pleasant experience.
Specially Women find it more

difficulties due to weaker skeleton and thus are at a greater risk of skeletal injuries.
Elderly people also find it very

difficult to use manually operated 12/31/12

Methodology
In the first phase of the project it was

decided that to calculate an average load of various car models. So that input load can be selected for jack design.
Design the jack completely and find

out the torque required to run the jack.

In the second phase, types of gear

selection is required so that applied

Spring loaded struts an be employed

between central screw and every member to provide for extra strength.
To avoid tripping, a folding base can

be employed, which opens during use.

Side support arms can be used for

extra strength & stability.

CONT.
Most of jack accidents occur due to

tripping of jack on either of non supporting sides, this can be avoided by using a cross platform as shown above.
To facilitate efficient storage the

extra supporting bars can be made to swivelon a hinge such that the platform can be folded.

PROPOSED COLLAPSE & TRIP FREE DESIGN

12/31/12

CONT.
The extended base removes tripping

problem.
Supporting arm adds stability

between top & bottom , thus reduces chances of collapse.

Supporting arms have swiveling

joints and arms can be folded , therefore jack becomes compact when not in use.

Contd.
Motor can be made to rotate the

screw of the jack by simply coupling the two shafts( screw shaft & motor shaft) through suitable gearing system.

Future Work
Fabricate and assemble the model

completely.
Testing of the model in our labs and

prepare the testing report.
