The Accident

Scene #1 The ambulance call.


911 what is your emergency? Caller-Please have the paramedics called to 4907 Floraville Road. There has been an accident and there are medical injuries that need to be treated and diagnosed. 911 operator- Calm down Miss. I have contacted the paramedics and they are in route to the location. Are you injured?

911 Operator

Scene #2
Caller-No I am not injured but my husband and daughter are hurt. 911 operator- Can you explain their injuries and their overall health. Caller- My husband has cardiac problems and my daughter has glucose problems to where she uses insulin. I took my husbands pulse because he said he felt nausea and it is low. My daughter has a superficial wound on her umbilical area but is has already started to coagulate.

Scene #3
Caller- my husband has mucus flowing from his nasal cavity and the glossal is swollen. 911 operator- Are they alert? Caller- yes they are alert. 911 operator- The paramedics should be arriving soon. Caller- they are here now. 911 operator- Good luck to you and they will take very good care of you.

The Ambulance

Scene #4
Paramedic #1- Sir can you tell me if you have any pain? My husband- my lower back is hurting and so is the bottom of my belly. Paramedic #1 to paramedic #2- he has injured his lumbar area as well as the hypgastric area. There is possible injury to the spinal cavity, the abdominal cavity, the umbilical area, and the thoracic cavity.

Scene #5
Paramedic #1- Hi. Can you tell me where you are hurting? My daughter- my head hurts and I have a cut on my arm. Paramedic #1- we will take good care of you so do not worry. Try and stay calm. Paramedic #1 to Paramedic #2- The little girl could possibly have skull, occipital, facial fractures. She will need x-rays done when we arrive at the hospital.

The Injuries

Scene #6
Paramedic #1 to paramedic #2- the little girl has external and internal wounds on the epidermis and dermis. It looks as if the wound has goes to the subcutaneous tissue. The wound runs distally on her arm. There is a superficial wound on her leg that runs proximal. The superior portion of her body is what seems to have taken the force of the accident. The inferior portion of her body seems to only have superficial wounds.

The Cardiac Problems

Scene #7
Paramedic #2 to hospital staff- Car accident. Two victims. Adult with possible major injuries. Child with minor injuries but with chronic health problems. May be in the need of insulin injection. Inspection of adult victim may require surgery. The child has voluntary movement of her muscles as well as the adult. Prognosis will be determined by Emergency physician.

Scene #8
Paramedic #2 to hospital- I will recommend rehabilitation for adult patient and leukocyte count on child. I was able to read a pulse in both victims with my stethoscope. With the adult having cardiac problems it may be necessary to check the arteries in his aorta to make sure there is no blockage and blood flow is normal and that the heart is contacting normally. If there are irregular palpitations I am unable to hear them.

Paramedics arrive to the hospital. Paramedic #1 to my daughter- We are at the hospital now so the doctor will help you get better. My daughter to paramedic #1- thank you for helping us.

Paramedic #2 to My husband- the Emergency room doctor is here to help now. Take care. My husband to Paramedic #2- Thank you for all of your help. Me to paramedics- Thank you so much for how fast you arrived and for what you did to help my family. You are great at your jobs! Knowing the anatomy and physiology of the human body is something that is not easy but you know it and are very well at treating injuries.
