SCOPE

Build a project team Aware to use Method(s) and Technique(s) to form a Fire Protected System by locally available resources i.e. Materials and Manufacturing techniques & be able to Run it.

Safety Points
Always follow instructions. Keep the work area clean. Keep flammable and combustible items away from spark producing activities. Know where the Emergency Stop Buttons are positioned in the workshop. Always Be Patient, never rush in the workshop. Keep hands away from Moving/Rotating machinery.

Introduction to Fire System

All Fire Systems operate on the same principle. If a Detector detects smoke or heat, or someone operates a Break Glass Unit, then Alarm Sounders operate to warn others in the area that there may be a fire and to evacuate. For the system protecting property, it is additionally likely that the Fire Alarm will incorporate remote signaling equipment which would alert the fire brigade via a Central Station

Inside Shelter area electrical fire or chemical fire occurs due to presence of Electric Circuits and Batteries. So fire system inside shelter contain following items. Alarm Panel Smoke / Heat Detector. Digital Distribution Frame (signal box) Fire Extinguisher (CO2) Fire Sounder (Bell) Safety Tools (Helmet, Shoes, Hammer, Ladder & etc)

CLASSES OF FIRE

Portable Fire Extinguisher

Stored-Pressure Water Extinguishers:
use on Class A fires. Caution: DO NOT use these extinguishers on Class B,C or D fires! Standard water extinguishers contain 2 Discharge time is 30-60 protected against freezing

seconds. These extinguishers must be

Carbon dioxide (CO2) Fire Extinguishers:

For Class A, B and C fires. Hand carried extinguishers are available in sizes from 2 1/2 to 22 pounds. Discharge time is dependent on the size of extinguisher.

24

Portable Fire Extinguisher

Dry Chemical Extinguishers
They are two types available: those rated for Class B and C fires, and those rated for Class A, B, C & D fires. These extinguishers are available from 2

1/2 to 30 pounds. Discharge time is 10-25

seconds

Film-Forming-Fluoroprotein (FFFP) Foam Extinguishers:

For use on Class A and B fires. They are essentially 2 1/2 gallon water extinguishers with a FFFP foam additive. The foam has the ability to make water float on fuels that are lighter than water.

Safety Precautions

Safety Precautions

Routing of Cable.
Should be routed through areas of low fire risk. Underground locations should be PVC protected If Cables are installed less than 2.25m above the floor should they normally be protected.

Safety Precautions
Fight a Fire If:
The Fire Department has been called. Everyone has left or is leaving the affected area. The fire is small and confined to the area where it started. You can fight the fire with your back to a safe escape route. Your extinguisher is rated for the type of fire you are fighting. You have had training in use of the extinguisher and are confident that you can operate it effectively.

Safety Precautions
Be Careful If:
The fire is spreading beyond the immediate area where it started, or is already a large fire. The fire could block your escape route. You are unsure of the proper operation of the extinguisher. You are in doubt whether the extinguisher you are holding is appropriate for the type of fire. If any of these conditions are true, leave immediately, close off the area, and leave the fire to the Fire Department.

Inspection & Preventive Maintenance

Panels and Devices
DAILY WEEKLY QUARTERLY and ANNUAL inspections and issue a certificate after each inspection. It is normal practice for 1/4 of all detection systems to be cleaned and checked on each weekly visit so that the entire system has been properly maintained after the fourth visit
