Media Magazine Analysis

IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE , DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS ?

What are the conventions of a magazine? There are

many conventions of a magazine these being : Pull quotes , Sell Lines , Mastheads, Skyline, Pugs , Barcodes

etc. with out these conventions you would not achieve

what a magazine is expected to look like however these are the simplistic sides of conventions for a magazine as

many magazine now cover many of their own conventions

to make their magazine seem different and unique in

comparison to other magazines of their genre in the magazine market an example of this is the idea of including todays most used social networking sites

such as Twitter and Facebook on the Front cover and

DPS of the magazine I did this on my own magazine . I used the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook

as it was my idea of a different USP to gain more

readers making my magazine available online as well as in your nearest convenient store ( G&M magazine is only a click away) ; this convention the usage of social networking

has been used by modern genre magazines such as Hip Hop and Rock magazines although I went that step

further and decided to add in a QR code in which

Blackberry smart phones can use to scan and watch the Chilli interview on their phones on the go .

MUSIC MAGAZINE FRONT COVER Masthead in a bold, I decided to put my

burgandy font a very fashionable font worn during the 90s era. I had chose to call my magazine G&M for the simple fact of it not just being based on 90s musical sensations but also the fashion trend set as this was just as important to the music during the 90s . main image on a neutral rose pink background to focus the readers attention to the image ; The casual jeans shirt , bandana and extension braids reflects the genre of the magazine.

Colour Scheme: Rose pink, Grey and burgundy quite and subtle colours.

CONVENTIONS USED IN MY MAGAZINE

Masthead 90s Garments and Music , presenting you with the best of the 90s Music and Fashion.

Sell line-Readers are able to comment on all the issues of G&M magazine and give is future issue ideas.

They link my magazine name to a benefit. They have the magic of people talk. They drive executions- they suggest visuals or situations that give continuity to the advertising.
THE SELL LINE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!

A Selling Line is a meaning to an end meaning to an end this will give me benefits over time to a greater degree than my competition magazine covering the same genre.

I have placed my sub stories on the left hand and right had side of my magazine front cover telling the reader what page they will find each story on .

The name of the girl group featured on the front cover .

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

My Magazine has a target audience of the teenage youth and young adults age 16-25 years old I had

chose to use this age group from looking on my

questionnaire results being their age group was more interested in the 90s R&B genre music in comparison to adults 25+ I implicated this by using two 17 year old sixth from students on my front cover also

with the background contrast being of quite a youthful colour (rose pink) as this colour would not necessarily be seen on a

magazine with a audience of 25 + . I chose to not just focus on

the music aspect of the 90s but also the fashion as most young women share a keen interest in it by adding a fashion aspect I thought this could open up more doors for my magazine as I

can then appeal to a wider audience

WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

I will distribute my magazine in many ways in order

to get a continuous growing number of an audience ; firstly I will put magazines in various retail shops such as Newsagents,Conveniant Stores, HMV this is quite commonly with most magazines as most people if they want a magazine they would go to the nearest shop with in their captivated

area however today the big chains such as Tesco , Asda , Sainsbury's etc. are now becoming the popular sellers of magazines. Distributing my magazine in supermarkets means I will be able to reach more people who fit into my audience however considering the audience my magazine is aimed 16-24 year olds most 16-24 year olds are either working in college or university and are familiar with the new and latest technology and spend most of their time on the internet doing research and other things therefore I

would also like to make visual

copies of my magazine accessible over the internet for my audience by doing this I will most defiantly be keeping up with the competition of other magazines as other magazines have also decided to do this although not so much with in the UK which means I will be the first to make a difference in the UK magazine industry.

In the UK there sre major magazine publishing companies such as Emap, IPC media , National magazine company , Conde and Dennie I willl also appeal to these magazine publishing companies and ask them to help me in becoming one of the next

popular magazines in the UK.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?

The Sub-Stories- The sub stories which my readers will find most interesting is those which were not published during the 90s due to confidentiality however from doing interviews /getting in touch with the 90s sensational artists we were able to get hold of stories which have never been told before .

Despite my audience being of a young age 16- 24 , most females at this age tend to be very mature and prone to the adult world, to show this I have used a simplistic but yet sophisticated font with a calm mood colour of burgundy I chose however not to cover some of my main image with the Mast head as some magazines do as I want my main image to remain the MAIN focus as part of being the exclusive of the magazine.

Main image The main image is a mid shot of the duet group TLS they are looking directly at the reader screaming BUY ME!, many magazines do this as it is eye catching also the attire which they are wearing most definitely connotes to the 90s R&B casual clothing.
