Five thing that can make India a Renewable Energy Super Power

Presented By MOHAMMED PARVEZ ALAM MBA 1st Year

Introduction
The development of renewable energy (RE) is necessary for the sustainable development of any country due to rising population, growing economy, changing lifestyles, depleting fossil fuel level, climbing fossil fuel prices across the world and more recently pressure for reduction emission level.

Hurdles in Green Power

Solar Energy
Trade Details
Renewable Energy purchase obligation launched in 2010, makes it obligatory for discoms, open access consumer and captive power producer to meet part of their energy need to green energy.

Problem Areas
Solar Power is costly and suffers from supply shortfall

Rs 9.30-12.40 Rs 1.50-3.30

Non-Solar sources of energy such as wind have few takers, hence hindering the returns of already established projects

Rs 3.37-3.56 Rs 1.50-3.30

There are Immense Opportunities in this sector and India has capability of becoming Renewable Energy Superpower but due to lack of proper policy, initiative it is not been utilized at it full

potential.

So, to make India a RE Superpower steps to be followed are

1. Necessary Government Actions

Implementation of Proper Policy and Regulations. At Central level there are lots of policies for renewable energy but it is not implemented on ground level due to gap between the states and centre government. So, central government should take necessary step to implement those policies with the help of state government. Prioritization of operation of different renewable sources on the basis of geographic, time and need.

2. Hidden Potential of India in RE

Every State should utilise the Bio-degradable waste generated. One cow can produce enough manure in one day to generate 3 kilowatt hours of electricity. So, potential renewable capacity of bio power is 23700 MW. Geothermal Energy should be utilize at maximum as this is the source of renewable energy which can generate electricity continuously for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The estimated potential for geothermal energy in India is about 10000 MW.

Artificial Ethanol should be made from biological material such as sugar cane.

3. Research and Development in RE

Effective and intense research work on production equipment and on new ways of generating electricity. Example : The Equipment Cost of renewable energy production is very high. So, there should intense research and indigenous production facilities. Research on electricity generating virus which convert pressure/force into an electric charges. This are harmless virus and work on Piezoelectric effect. Nanomaterials to generate electricity from Waste Heat Research on Appliances, Automobile for making it work on Renewable Energy sources such as solar. Example:- Solar Cooker, Green Car etc.

4. Renewable Energy as a trend

Every big MNCs, government organization, or private building whose rooftop have certain minimum area should have solar panel installed to produce electricity. Government should make appraisal system for corporate who take part in Renewable Energy. Corporate in the field of Renewable Energy not only make them power efficient but also add to the Society. Every big Personality should promote and use the clean energy. Renewable Energy should be made Status Symbol or Style Statement.

5. Awareness and Education

Awareness should be created among the people to get acquainted with the Renewable Energy. Renewable Energy should be made topic of study in school standard as they are the future of India and RE as a future source of energy. Example:NDTV-Toyota taken initiative to spread awareness among the people by launching program Greenathon. Indias first ever-nationwide campaign to save the environment. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness about environmental issues by involving the people of our country to make a difference.
