Proposal

In This Unit of coursework, I have been told to produce a Film or a Fashion Magazine, which will be aimed for specific audience, which would also be sold in shops. I am going to be creating a Film Magazine, as I got to choose between film or fashion magazine. My magazine is going to be aimed at male and female aged 15-25. My Film Magazine is aimed at this audience, as the film I will be promoting is going to be an action movie. I chose this genre as I watch action movies myself and thought this genre would be interesting and different from everyone else. The target audience for my magazine, is mainly any gender aged 13-25. As girls and boys are interested in current popular movies (Action, Horror, Romantic, Comedy). They would be the perfect target audience, as they are up to date with films, and sometimes on regular basis they watch movies. This age range is the perfect target audience, the most popular activity they do when they are out with friends is to watch a movie, also they socialise on popular social websites (twitter/facebook) they can immediately find out the latest movie and whether or not its worth watching it. My magazine will feature a specific genre which is action. The social class for my target audience is social category ABC1 . My readers are in the category conformists and mainstreamers in the psychographics theory. I will be researching different magazines that are quiet similar to mine. Ive researched many magazines, including Total Film, Empire and Premiere. These magazines are film based, which some certain features will help me with my own creation of a film magazine. I need to consider about the colour, titles, price and how the sell lines will attract my target audience to read the magazine. My Magazine will have one main images featured on the front page, which will feature one of my film I thought will be the main sell line. The Masthead will be on the top, in big bold font, so it can get the audiences attention, with a variety of sell lines on each side of the front cover. My magazine will be a monthly magazine as other film magazines are issued monthly. The Price of my magazine, will not be too high, and not too low, it will be an average price.

Target Audience
The target audience I have chosen for my magazine is male and female aged , who are interested in action movie, full of explosions and violent scenes. Male and female aged 15-25. As both of the gender are interested in popular movies. This is the perfect target audience. On regular basis, they watch upcoming movies, which means they will visit the cinemas regularly and buy DVDs. Ive chosen this age range, as my target audience as the statistics show that teenagers and people in their early 20s are the people that mostly go to cinemas. The social class for my target audience will be aimed at mainly at class ABC1. The target audience will mainly be students or employed. My magazine wont have too much text for the reader to read which means that the reader will read and understand the issue of the magazine, as few readers can get put off with a lot of language in one page. My Magazine is aimed at audience that into the mainstreamers/ conformists psychographic category because it will feature interviews and reviews of recent and popular movie that people will enjoy reading. My target audience will read my magazine for information on about different action movies and the latest news in the film industry. They would also read it for ecapism, while reading the magazine they will gain a personal identity and personal relationships between different readers and the makers of the magazine. They will build a relationship through their common interest. My magazine will have to appeal to the target audience due to the genre of the magazines. The idea of having a different genre to everyone else is good, as my work will be unique and individual. I thought of doing a Film Magazine as I'm into films and not fashion, but fashion magazine was another choice I couldve done for my magazine. The idea of having different genres of movies featuring in my magazine is good as it will appeal not only my target audience but other audiences who maybe be interested in what is that certain type of movie or would be interested into finding out more. With not only movies articles and reviews in the magazine, but lists of top movies are also recommended for the target audience, so they dont miss out on watching the movies which are a trending blockbuster hit.

KEY CONCEPTS RESEARCH

Film magazines are mainly a monthly issues, mainly dedicated to one specific genre or maybe targeted at certain target audience. With each issue with having special features of one specific movie which was recently released in cinemas or is going to be release. In each monthly issue, there will every features that will build to make an magazine. The Conventions for a magazine are; Masthead (the main title of the magazine), sell lines which would make the reader want to know what the magazine has in store for the reader, the price and date the date will be monthly (mainly the month, as its a monthly issue) and the price for how the magazine will be. The Barcode, A Main Image which will draw the attention of the reader, by them looking at who is on the front cover. The main image will be part of the exclusive or special feature of each issue. There will also be interviews and articles on different topics and interviews of celebrities. The front cover is the main part of a magazine, as it draws the target audiences attentions, and this makes them buy the magazine and read what in the magazine, due to the sell lines being eye catchy. Film Magazine usually has an image from the film that is featured in the magazine. The image is mainly big and stands out of the page, its often a well known actor/actress. The contents page is where the reader can find out what is featured in the magazine, as well as articles. The adverts which are in the magazine are mostly related to the genre of what the magazine is. If its a film magazine, then there will be advertisements on films which have been recently released on DVD/Bluray/Triple Play.

Film Magazines are mostly read by male audience, only few females would read film magazines, however due to the genre of the magazine or what type of film is featured in the magazine, effects on which gender reads the most. For example, If it was a action movie about superhero(e.g X-Men) on the front cover then male audience would read it, as there eye must have seen the front cover and may have decided to read it, whereas if there was a well known actor or romantic movie on the front cover with girly colours then female audience would be drawn attention to the magazine due to the movie featured inside it or the people who are mentioned in the magazine. Men would read film, music, sport and fitness magazine, on the other hand women would read gossip, fitness and fashion magazine and younger audiences, such as teenage and younger girls would be interested in reading in latest gossip about pop music and TV shows, and teenage and younger boys would be interested in comic, cartoon, car magazines. Film Magazines are mainly aimed at both genders, but mostly aimed at people who are really into films, and want to read articles and reviews of a specific film. A Fashion magazine is generally aimed at young women and teenage girls. The front cover is mainly girly and bright, to attract the teenage girls due to the colour scheme. You are expected to see models stereotypical tall, skinny, perfect hair and make up. Female readers buy fashion magazine to get tips on what to wear when going out etc

DESIGN SKETCHES

An Exclusive Interview with the Queen of action movies, Jessica Jinadasa, back in the film industry with another SMASH HIT MOVIE coming out in a cinema near you in August. How did you feel to be offered a main lead role by Michael Bay? How can I describe it? I was speechless that Michael Bay came in person to offer me to play the lead role. I read through the script and the plot of the movie. I thought to myself this movie is going to be a HIT. Filming the movie would be an Amazing experience for me. This time I was playing a double role, which was a real challenge. Its a movie full of girl power. I got into my character easily, this fierce devil but also an innocent, nice, and kind angel. When I heard I was going to work with Chris Hemsworth, I thought I was dreaming. He impressed many viewers and myself in his hit action movie Thor. I consider myself lucky. Dreams do come true, just need to have some patience. Did you get on well with your co-stars Sophie McElroy and Chris Hemsworth? I got on with Sophie very wellas Ive known her for more than 7 years. Weve been in the same school together, we have very close that I know her life and she knows my life upside down, inside out. She is so talented and a great friend. Chris Hemsworth is such a sweet guy, really down to earth when you get to know him. He is such a prankstar! We are always are having a laugh while filming. Ill never forget those great, funny moments. How did it feel to win a Oscar for Best Actress for your previous movie Fire Away? It felt amazing, its my 4th Oscars Award. I was Speechless I was proud of myself. It was amazing, being an Oscar Winner made me feel like there is hope for everyone. I dreamed and worked hard to reach the stage I am currently at. Without the support from my family, friends and my wonderful fans, I wouldnt have been here in the first place. I am honoured already to be nominated alongside, Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart, and Kate Winslet, but I never knew that I would beat them and win the Award. The character I played in Fire Away, was similar to the real life me so I could easily link myself to the character. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Hmmm... I see myself getting older, I want be to be forever young! I want to take a break from Hollywood and start being involved in the music industry hopefully. I think I will be a busy woman, as I've got another movie contract with J.J Abrams. Im going to be shooting the next sequel for Race. How Exciting!! If you were involved in the Music Industry, who would you collaborate with? I love to MAKE music instead of being part of the performing side, I would rather make music for big artists like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Adele and Jessie J. They are all talented and wonderful artists. I love music in general, it helps me to concentrate in everything. Ive always loved listening to music at a young age... did you know I can play the guitar? How does it feel to be the Queen of the action movies? Well, in real life Im kind of violent. When I was in high school, I always got into fights, Being in my 5th action movie, did actually make me feel like the Queen of Action Movies.I also gained a lot of confidence after doing all those scenes of falling down, running through fire, jumping out of my car, etc.. It was painful (at times) but so fun, as I am that kind of girl that would just go for it and dont care I didnt have anyone being my stunt double. I did all the main stunts and to be honest, it was crazy, I never experienced anything like that. I always wanted to do something dangerous. I always take risks which I dont regret at all. Who inspired you in getting you into the Film industry? I grew up watching my all time favourite actress Emma Watson in Harry Potter. She was amazing in each and every movie. My mum helped me a lot in this journey of mine. She is the one who encouraged me. Thank you Jessica for being with us and spending some of your time in answering our questions.
