Introduction of AMD AMD Processor Features AMD64 AMD Athlon Processor Bulldozer Comparison with Intel Conclusion
Introduction
Advanced Micro Devices AMD is an American multinational semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California, that develops computer processors and related technologies. Its main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors and graphics processors for servers, workstations and personal computers, and embedded systems applications. AMD is the second-largest global supplier of microprocessors based on the x86 architecture (behind Intel) and also one of the largest suppliers of graphics processing units. It also a supplier of non-volatile flash memory.

AMD64
The first AMD64-based processor, the Opteron, was released in April 2003. Athlon64,Opteron(K8) AMD64 use Hyper Transport & Direct Connect Architecture. Operating Mode:

Bulldozer
Bulldozer is Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) Central Processing Unit (CPU) codename for the server and desktop processors released on 12 October 2011 with family 15h microarchitecture, the successor to the family 10 h (K10) microarchitecture M-SPACE design methodology. Instruction Set: The Bulldozer architecture, besides being compatible with the standard x86 instructions, will support the following additional instruction sets: SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) with two additional subsets, called XOP and FMA4 AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) LWP (Light Weight Profiling)

Conclusion
AMD concentrated on the PC and consumer market and cut the costs for their CPUs in order to be more competitive. Nowadays the AMD CPUs are hotter than Intel CPUs, therefore you will need a better cooling and your system will be a bit louder. AMD provides a dual core CPU for PCs longer than Intel and I guess they have more experience with these features.
