Cause & Effect Diagram was developed by Kaoru
Ishikawa (1943)
Came into prominence in 1960s
It is also known as Ishikawa
Diagram or Fishbone Diagram.
It is considered one of the seven
basic tools of ‘Quality Management’
Helps determine root causes
Encourages group participation
Uses an orderly, easy-to-read format
Identifies and indicates possible causes of variation
