Special need

Hyperactive (ADHD)
a developmental disorder characterized by distractibility, hyperactivity, impulsive behaviors, and the inability to remain focused on tasks or activities. (medical dictionary) Hyperactive children have a disorder that means they might have problems paying attention or sitting still in their seats.

Signs of ADHD
have problems concentrating and paying attention. have trouble sitting still in class and waiting for their turn. might yell out the answers before other kids have a chance to raise their hands. disorganized, distracted, or forgetful. wiggle around in their seats, move around a lot, talk too much, or interrupt other people's conversations.

How to help them


David Nylund (Woolfolk. A & Margetts K, 2007) suggested a therapy where the children use their internal strength to control the problem Relaxation therapy: counselors teach kids how to relax and stay calm by doing deep-breathing exercises and relaxing different muscle groups

Behavioral therapy: teaches kids to set goals for themselves and uses rewards to help them reach those goals

Teaching Implication
The objective of teaching and learning process must be stated clearly. Use concrete examples. Short and repetitive instructions. Relate learning with daily experiences. Teaching must be structured. Give simple task.

Special Needs School in Malaysia


Special Education Integration Program (Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi) is provided for children with learning, hearing and vision disabilities. The Program is carried out in normal primary and secondary school, as well as in technical/vocational secondary schools that use the withdrawal and partially inclusive approach to teach and learn. Curriculum: National Curriculum and the Alternative Curriculum. Special education students participate in extra-curricular activities with normal students. Duration : primary (6 years), secondary (5 years) All Special Primary Schools are academic-based.

Non government: Sri Rafelsia, located in Kuala Lumpur. cater to children with mild to moderate learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, slow learners AD/HD, dyspraxia, Aspergers Syndrome, William Syndrome, Tourette's Syndrome. The learning process: equipping child with the necessary skills to facilitate the learning process. Individual learning plans and various teaching styles are utilised in order to best match the individual childs learning style, needs and pace. All staff are fully trained special education graduates from foreign universities.
