Introduce about Cantho City and Cantho University Outline of my proposal research Summarize of my undergraduate research
_ Can Tho, the name comes from "cam thi giang" - river of poems, is a city in Vietnam . _ The city, regarded as "Western capital", with an estimated population of 1,187,000 as of 2010, is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta.
_ Locate on the south bank of the Hau River, the bigger branch of the Mekong River. _ Can Tho is over its 200 years as the main town, once known as Tay Do and now one city of Vietnam _ The Mekong Delta is considered to be the rice basket of Vietnam.Contributing more than 50% of the nations rice production. _ People say of Can Tho: All who come wish never to leave.
_ Can Tho is famous for its floating markets. _ The Cai-Rang-market of Can Tho is the colorful and beautiful "floating market" in the Mekong Delta. _ Open all day but it is busiest from sunrise to about 9am. _The main items sold there are farm products and specialties of Cai Rang Town, Chau Thanh District and neighboring areas.
_ Modern tourism gardens have developed on every land and water route in the Mekong Delta city of Cantho. _ The My Khanh Gardens occupy 2.2 ha. _More than 20 species of fruit trees and flowers, as well as diverse species of birds, fish, tortoises, snakes, crabs and shrimp.
_ The Ba Lang Gardens has an area of 4.2 ha. _ There is the animal sanctuary of Ao Sen Lake, two lakes for swimming, an outdoor stage and mini-hotels. _ Combine agricultural potential with tourism.
_ Cable-stayed Can Tho Bridge, longest main span in Southeast Asia. _ Investment capital sourced from Japans official development assistance (ODA) and the Vietnamese State budget. _ Play a crucial role in socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta and the country. _ Built by domestic and foreign contractors, including Taisei, Kajima and Nippon Steel (TKN) of Japan.
_ Founded on March 3, 1966, Can Tho Institute had 4 faculties: Sciences, Law and Social Sciences, Letters, and Education. _ Can Tho Institute was changed to Can Tho University after 1975.
_ 23 Labs and Practical Rooms, 01 Mechanical Workshop with a wide range of equipment serving students practical activities and providing contracting services in manufacturing/ repairing several equipment/ machinery to the whole university.
_ SSI has become progressively more relevant in recent decades. _ Increasing need for urban development and the shortage and cost of space in urban areas. _ Lead to a greater density of buildings, larger structures with deeper and more heavily loaded foundation. _ The construction of foundation, excavation and tunnels will inevitably be accompanied by movement of the ground around them, hence the structures in contact with that ground. _ It is important to be able to assess whether existing nearby structures will be subjected to damage and if so to what extend.
_ The building is presented by a rectangular beam of length L and height H. _ Need to calculate the tensile strain in the beam and the hogging ratio /L which cracking is initiated
_ Boscardin and Cording presented a simplified chart for predicting the damage. _ This can give good first estimate but: + It relates to only L/H= 1. + Maximum bending strains bmax are ignored.
Expected results
_ Find a set of equations for predicting the monotonic moment-rotation response of rigid foundation using the Winkler foundation model. _ Model a wide range of cyclic soil degradation and hardening phenomena in geotechnical engineering.
_ The objective of this study was to design structure for constructing Cantho culture center building. _ Several specific objectives were taken into account: + selection of suitable construction location for this building. + size of construction such as number of floors, and characteristics of structure design were also discussed. _ Main force-bearing structures are reinforced concrete frame. _ Assumed that the structure had been working under elastic state. Thus, we applied the first limit state to calculate the strength of structures. _ Computing components undergo bending such as beams and floors are followed Bernoullis standpoint
