MOSES
1. 2. 3. 4. I belong to the house of Levi. Who am I? I am an Old Testament person. I had a burning bush call from God. When I was a baby I was put inside the papyrus basket. 5. I led Israel to the promised land but was not allowed to get in.
ELIJAH
1. I am a hero from Tishbe. Who am I? 2. I belong to the Old Testament. 3. I had a literal mountaintop experience where I stood up for God. 4. The ravens fed me and I drank from the brook. 5. I got tired of running for my life & asked God to kill me.
JESUS
1. I am a miracle child. 2. I was baptized in the rivers of Jordan. 3. I belong to the New Testament, that can be said of me, although I am also of the Old Testament. 4. I was tempted by the devil. 5. I died for your sins.
PAUL
1. I am very intelligent.
2. I am of the New Testament 3. I am famous for persecuting the followers of Jesus. 4. I had a one-of-a kind/ miraculous conversion. 3. My former associates tried to kill me because I became Jesus disciple.
Moses, Elijah, Jesus and Paul. Bible characters whose lives set the example for us.
There is however one thing God looks at in you. This is regardless of age, color, race, income, education, culture, etc. What is it?
HOLY AMBITION Making a Difference for God
Dislocated heart: 2 definitions It is a God-given concern that propels us beyond our comfortable routine. It is a passionate concern for God's people and God's agenda that supersedes our own personal comfort and prosperity.
Broken Spirit is an attitude of desperate dependency and humility that allows us to come to God fully expecting that He will say, I greet you; Ill love you; Ill lift you up; Ill use you.
Radical faith is choosing to step out to fulfill Gods clearly defined will at possible great personal risk and sacrifice.

A PERSONAL COMMITMENT is a PLEDGE, VOW or PROMISE. Its a DEDICATION, DEVOTION, LOYALTY or STEADFASTNESS to a stated course of action, relationship, project or cost.

The common pitfall in cases like Chips experience can be found in the unstable soil of expectations.
Whenever we step out and make a major commitment and say by faith, I am really going to do it Gods way, unconsciously we start thinking, Well, since Im going to do this Gods way, life will probably get better.
God is going to bless me. God is going to bring that special person into my life. God will be so pleased with my obedience that work will go great, my kids will do well, my health will stay strong, and my ministry will flourish.
This thinking gets us into trouble. The truth is, God does what He promises, but we often misinterpret His promises. We want God to bless us according to our definition. God will, in fact, honor and bless our obedience and faith, But in experience, life usually gets harder before it gets better.
Why is this? Because our lives in their typical state are as shattered as the walls and gates of Jerusalem that Nehemiah saw as he approached the city. Gods work in our lives isnt about paint and scrubbing; its about reconstruction from the ground up, transformation, and radical renovation.
Until Christ moves in, our lives represent enemy territory. Weve been overrun and wrecked. The enemy considers us his spoils of war. The enemy doesnt yield ground easily.
Even when Christ takes possession of our lives, pockets of resistance remain. We dont invade or retake enemy territory, or deal with deep issues like lust, rage, sharing our faith, making major decisions, and addressing issues with our kids without running into serious opposition.
We can say, Our finances are going to get lined up with Gods purposes, or Im going to get in the Bible for myself. Im going to pray, get involved with ministry, address an addiction or a core area in our marriage, and so on, but the doing will meet with resistance. Sometimes, fierce resistance.
ROMANS 5:1-4
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance,
character; and character, hope.
1 PETER 1:6-7 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faithof greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by firemay result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
JAMES 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
GREAT MEN INVADED WITH TROUBLES:

MOSES Moses had a burning-bush call from God. Hows that for definite? He went down to Egypt reluctantly, but willing to obey.

MOSES
What happened? God worked two or three miracles through Moses and his own people were ready to kill him. They said, Moses, it was a lot better before you showed up.
MOSES
Opposition? Moses knew about that. He led Gods people out of Egypt all right. They went kicking, screaming, and complaining almost every step of the way.
ELIJAH
Elijah had a literal mountaintop experience where he stood up for God (1 Kings 1819). Fire came down from heaven and consumed the soggy sacrifice. All the false prophets of Baal were removed.
ELIJAH
Almost immediately, we find Elijah running for his life. After his bold, radical, personal commitment to Gods agenda, we find him exhausted, clinically depressed, and asking God to kill him. Elijah knew about resistance.
JESUS
Jesus stepped up to do ministry and made it official at the time of His baptism. He heard His Father say, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.
JESUS
Jesus was fully God, but He was also fully human. As a human, He heard the very voice of the Father in affirmation, Youve taken a great step. And what does the text say right after that? Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil (Mt. 4:1).
PAUL
The apostle Paul had a miraculous conversion and began to preach. And what happened? Former associates tried to kill him. His former enemies had to save his life by lowering him over the wall in a basket.
Have you been invaded by troubles? Opposition, difficulties, resistance, ridicule, discouragement, temptations or criticism? How did you manage to survive?
We have since looked at various Bible characters who were troubled but have been strong to weather the storms of their life when they followed after God, trusting HIS will and way.
Our greatest personal victories are almost always followed by periods of intense opposition . . . If we take seriously Gods challenge to live lives of holy ambition then we must anticipate opposition.
You and I can ask this of ourselves. Who am I that God can use me? Who am I that I can be like Moses or Paul or Elijah or Jesus? This is a question we may wrestle with. But as God is there, whoever we are or whatever we go through, He will strengthen us.
