Chapter I Introduction
A. The Background of Research This research was conducted in the SMP N 2 Grogol. Based on the observation, this school has good human source (input) but low graduated (output). Besides, SMP N 2 Grogol has good facilities to support teaching learning process. The other result of observation and interview found several problem dealing speaking skill of the students such: 1. The students lack of the motivation in learning. 2. The Students were not interesting. 3. The students passive in teaching learning process.
Meanwhile, the problem found from interview with English teacher such as: 1. The students confused when they asked to speak, because they have no sufficient vocabulary. 2. The students lack of confident, and; 3. The students lazy to participate on the class.
On the other hand there are reason why those problem arise from students and teacher side.
1. From the students side: a. The students think that English was difficult. Its why the students lazy to learning English also participate in the class. b. The teacher used teacher-centered, it made the students were not interest in English class. c. The teacher rarely used learning media to keep students interest. 2. From the teachers side: a. The teachers technique. b. The teachers way to develop students speaking skill is nothing

2. The students respond about implementation retelling technique in teaching learning process.
Most of the students said that they like the retelling story
being implemented toward the learning process of speaking. From the students comments given after conducting the research about
achieved.
B. Implication The retelling story can improve the students speaking skill. The
C. Suggestion 1. For English Teachers The English teachers should create an enjoyable situation in teaching learning process so that the students can participate actively in the class. 2. For The Students The students should involve actively in English class and practice the English frequently 3. For The Institution Researcher hope the institution can arrange a program both for teacher and students 4. For The Other Researcher The researcher hopes other researcher will be inspired and motivated to conduct a research to improve students speaking skill. The researcher also hopes that there will be other researchers who conduct other techniques in teaching learning speaking.
