Begin with a general idea of what passage is about. It helps us form a general idea of the topic in your mind

Identifying the point of view of the author what the writers thesis is. What does the author propose to write about the topic. Can be worded:
What What What What is the main idea? is the subject? is the topic? would be a good title?

Context is the combination of vocabulary and grammar that surrounds a word. If you know the general meaning of a sentence, you also know the general meaning of the words in the sentence.

After reading a passage, you will be expected to answer six to ten question. First, read a question and find the important content words (nouns, verbs, adjectives). Next, let your eyes travel quickly over the passage for the some content words or synonyms of the words.

In a reading passage, a direct statement or fact evidence. Sometimes, not direct statement of fact using evidences to make an inference. Inference is a logical conclusion based on evidence. It can be about the passage itself or about the authors viewpoint.

You will be expected to select from four possible answer the one thats NOT mentioned in the reading. Use your scanning skill.

First, find the pronoun in the passage. Then read the sentence using the four answer choices in place of pronoun. The meaning of the sentence in the context of the passage will not change when you substitute the correct antecedent.

You will be asked to find certain information in the passage, and identifying it by line number

Recognizing whether the writer is being subjective and is expressing personal opinions, or being objective using undistorted facts.

Creating text

If you were the woman, how would you feel? What questions would you want to ask the man/the woman? Imagine that the couple have a final argument before they break up. Think of a possible dialogue and act it out.

How many tenses are used? What does this tell you about the events?

Project work
Design a questionnaire to find out peoples attitude about courtship. Give it out to a group of people and report the findings.
