Mirage 2000

Mirage 2000 family

Made by the French Dassault aviation. First production for Military use - around 1982. Many variations of the aircraft such as 2000B,C,D,E,N,R,S and 2000 3,4,5,8,9. Different attack capabilities such as anti-radar missiles, air-surface missiles, in flight re-fueling, cluster and modular bombs. Some like the 2000B are used as a trainer aircraft, 2000 N is for nuclear warheads. Used by a large no. of countries in their airforce - Janes All the world aircraft

Delta wings
The Mirage is delta winged and does not possess canards. High take-off and landing speeds and hence not for carriers. From F.A.S. web site High accelerations and maneuverability (3600 in 15 secs), at the same time low speed stability provided. Wings are low-mounted delta with clipped tips. One turbofan engine mounted in the fuselage. Semicircular air intakes alongside the fuselage.

Delta wings
Delta winged aircraft use a device called an elevon. It is a combination of ailerons and elevators. Mirage 2000-5 has the following delta wings. 580 leading edge sweep, 3.50 trailing edge sweep. Leading edge slats and elevons provided and controlled by fly-by-wire technology. The fuselage is Area ruled and blended into the wing.

Mirage 2000 Can sustain 2.2 M

Can fly at low speeds of 115 mph. Subsonic or low altitude maneuverability

Upto 7g accelerations (9gs need pilot forcing)
