1. Read the instruction.

2. Read and understand the questions.

3. Choose the accurate answer. 4. Answer all the questions. 5. If you dont know how to answer certain questions, do not waste time. Proceed to the next questions.

CONTROLLING VARIABLES
What to keep the same (WS) What to change ( WC) What to observe / measure ( WOM)

CONTROLLING VARIABLES
To answer the hyphothesis question
To answer the inference question To answer the aim/title/objective of the investigation question To answer the conclusion question

HYPOTHESIS
Making a general statement about the relationship between a what to change (WC) variable and what to observe / measure (WOM) variable to explain an observation. The statement can be tested to determine its validity.

How to answer the hypothesis and relationship question

1. When ___________ , then ___________ (WC) + Pattern (WM) + Pattern
2. The _____________, the ______________ Pattern + (WC) Pattern + (WM)

Sample questions Height of the shadow (cm)

14 12 10 8 6 4 2 o 4 8 12 14

Distance between light source and the object

Sample questions. 1. State the relationship between the things that you have mentioned in (a). 2. Based on the information gathered, write one statement relating the two things in (a).

3. Make a statement to relate the things mentioned in (a).

Sample Answers
1. When the distance between the light source and the object increases, then the height of the shadow decreases. 2. The longer the distance between the light source and the object, the lower the height of the shadow.

Making Inferences
Explanation or interpretation that follow from the observation. Making an educated guess about an object or event based on previously gathered data or information.

How to answer the inferences question

1. (WM) + Pattern because (WC) + Pattern

2. Observation + Why? (reason)

3. Because (cause based on answer in (a))

How to answer the aim of the investigation question

To

investigate the relationship between (WC) and (WM).

Sample questions 1. What is the aim of the investigation above? 2. State the aim of the investigation above. 3. What is the purpose of the investigation above?

How to answer the conclusion question

1. The (WM) when (can what?) 2. Hypothesis method (When the distance between the light source and the object increases, then the height of the shadow decreases)

3. Fact method (The light travels in a straight line)
