HYPOTHESIS
Making a general statement about the relationship between a what to change (WC) variable and what to observe / measure (WOM) variable to explain an observation. The statement can be tested to determine its validity.
Sample questions. 1. State the relationship between the things that you have mentioned in (a). 2. Based on the information gathered, write one statement relating the two things in (a).
Sample Answers
1. When the distance between the light source and the object increases, then the height of the shadow decreases. 2. The longer the distance between the light source and the object, the lower the height of the shadow.
Making Inferences
Explanation or interpretation that follow from the observation. Making an educated guess about an object or event based on previously gathered data or information.
Sample questions 1. What is the aim of the investigation above? 2. State the aim of the investigation above. 3. What is the purpose of the investigation above?
