los el lunes ... Monday In Spanish-speaking countries, the week begins los el martes Tuesday on Monday. los el mircoles Wednesday Notice that the days of the los el jueves Thursday week are not capitalized. los el viernes Friday The days of the week are all masculine. los el sbados Saturday Days of the week ending in Sunday los el domingo s -s do not change form in the plural. Only the article changes.

 When used with the days of the week, the definite

article has the special meaning on. No trabajo el lunes ... I dont work on Monday. No trabajo los martes I dont work on Tuesdays. Hay una fiesta el mircoles There is a party on Wednesday. Hay muchas fiestas los viernes There are many parties on Fridays.

 Qu da es hoy? What day is today? Hoy es mircoles. Today is Wednesday. Qu da es maana? What day is tomorrow? Maana es jueves. Tomorrow is Thursday.

Note that, like the days of the

week, they are not capitalized. Watch your spelling and pronunciation. To express in a certain month, use the preposition en. Vamos a Mxico en enero ... We are going to Mexico in January. Las clases empiezan en el mes de septiembre ... Classes begin in September.

 Note that the articles are normally used with the

seasons. En Amrica del Norte, la primavera empieza en marzo ... In North America, spring begins in March. En Amrica del Sur, la primavera empieza en septiembre In South America, spring begins in September. NOTE: The seasons are reversed south of the equator. When it is winter in New York, NY, it is summer in Santiago, Chile.

To respond use the following formula:

If it is the first of the month use primero instead of uno

Example: Es el primero de agosto. Its the first of August.

The Spanish way is to write the day + month + year. This is

different from the American way (month + day + year).
