Future Developments : Why Disturbance Fault recorders?

High cost of stand still of generators, substations and lines Avoiding of system failure is of highest concern No equipment provides the insights as does a good disturbance recorder

Optimisation of protection performance and concepts

Planing of preventive maintenance

Future Developments : Common Features Indactic 650 or Indactic 425

Basic Concept: Within the plant diverse logical Acquisition Stations, usually one acquisition station per bay (i.e. one Indactic 650 Unit) or one acquisition station per diameter (i.e. two or more Indactic 650 Units)

Features Indactic 650

Indactic as De-central System

What does de-central system mean?
The physical location of the inputs has no meaning with respect to the logical configuration! Practically the acquisition units which work as a system need not be located in the same place The operating personal (the user) does not see that the units are not located at the same place

Indactic 650 4th Generation of Disturbance Fault Recorder

Indactic 650 acquisition unit each with 9 analogue and 16 digital inputs De-central intelligence for optimised redundancy

(each unit with 2 microprocessors + 1 DSP

+ 4 MB) Unit interconnection by a 1.5 Mbaud real time. Only one wire between units, located

hundreds of meters apart, for all functions

Each channel has its own 16 bits A/D converter
No analogue multiplexing !!! No skew delay !!!

PTs & CTs are integrated into the unit (no external components) Accuracy better than 2% of actual ( 0.5%on full scale) without any recalibration on site

Technical Data per Unit

Digital Inputs
Number: Input Type 16 48V to 250V or potential free

Analogue Inputs
Resolution:

16 bits
9, current or voltage

Number:

Importance of high resolution (16 bits)

The resolution will determine the accuracy of all measures. Look at the LSB.

50 A x 2 x 2-15 = 2.12 mA, 50 A x 2 x 2-11 = 34.53 mA 16 times less !!!

That is an error of 3.45 %. This error cannot be compensated by any measures!

How to specify disturbance recorder ?

Sampling rate & bandwith

The frequency response of a primary transformer is the limit of the disturbance recorder
bandwith Advanced technologies allows to analyse frequency up to 0.5 time of the sampling rate frequency A very high sampling rate might not be the best as it needs lots of memory and a lot of time to transfer a file which limits the performance of the disturbance recorder
