AIM
To create a common environment that can execute commands irrespective of the OS.

What is an Operating System?

OS is an interface between hardware and end user. It helps to run other programs It performs basic tasks ,keeps track of files and directories etc..

What is VOS?
VOS is a sotware application It acts as an OS which takes up common set of commands to process the regular operations.

OBJECTIVE
Reduces learning commands that are identical in operation or functionality but are executed differently. Basic commands, internet, intranet and utilities to be created and available. No dependencies on the third party software's, for performing unavailable functionalities

INTRODUCTION
The system provides a common environment to allow users to execute various levels of commands that are available in different OS on different names and parameters. The various levels of commands range from basic commands, file creation and editing commands, commands that could communicate to the intranet and internet as well as powerful utilities.

Environment & User Interface Module

Module1: The module with providing security to the application and creating the user interface. The security identifies a valid user who is allowed to work on the application. The user has a facility to change his password. The user interface section is responsible to provide the required screens to allow the end user to work on the app.

File System Maintenance Module

Module2: The module provides and organizes cmds that are pertaining to the maintenance of files and directories. The user is allowed to execute cmds that can create, change and remove directories.

Network management module

Module3: The module provides a rich set of commands that
can be used to execute on the network configuration of the system. It can check the IP of any site/domain.

Command-line Surfing module

Module4:The module provides a facility to provide an editor from the cmd line that can able to create, edit and delete files.

Command-Line Editor & File Handlers

Module5:The module controls the display settings. A user is allowed to switch to various combinations of supported mono colors.

Present system
In this system every user have to undergo training on different OS, before using the environment of that OS. Most importantly they end up doing the same functionality. It is complex because some Operating Systems are user friendly and some arent.

Disadvantages of the present system:

It involves different trainers for different Operating Systems to train the participants. It is costlier as larger resources requirements are needed for training.

Proposed system
To built a common environment that will allow the user to execute any command.

Advantages of proposed system:

The common environment to execute any command. Provides essay handling of text editing features. Internet based queries. Online user manuals.

Software Requirements
OS: Any 32-bit OS. Language: Java,Jdk. Front End: Swing. Back End: Streams, Files. Browser: IE5.5.

Hardware Requirements
Processor: PIII or higher. RAM: 128MB. Hard Disk: 1 GB. Monitor: VGA,256 Colors,640x480. (Video Graphics adaptor) Modem: Internal or External.

Conclusion
By using VOS user can perform all basic commands , file management commands , network management commands etc irrespective of any OS.
