NV strengthens volunteering for development and influences a culture that
advances national volunteering initiatives working to improve the quality of
life of the poor and disadvantaged communities

Objectives
1. To build capacities of volunteer-involving organizations and programs
through KaBahagi in delivering services that will help address
development issues
2. To develop strategic partnerships that will pull together resources and
initiatives for advancing development goals through volunteering
3. To influence policies, structures and processes that will engender the
culture of volunteering in institutions of government, civil society and
business

THE NV PROGRAM AND THE VOLUNTEER JOURNEY

Basic NV input and how VSO Bahaginan is playing a role in NV highlighting its
Pre-Departure main strategies such as KaBahagi, Partnership Development and Public
Training Engagement.

Support to volunteers overseas on NV resources, initiatives and other capacity-

Mentoring

• Entail the creation of a pool of mentors who can


provide partners with one-to-one technical support

• Refer partners to other resource organizations that
can provide them with further assistance.

Who are qualified
Kabahagi Fellows ARE:
• Got transferable skills
• With at least 5 years
working background in a
specific area
• Experience in mentoring,
coaching or training
• Able to provide 80 hours of
service
• Preferably can speak the
local dialect
• Flexible, collaborative
• Values openness to learning
Orientation Session

A 2-day orientation session for mentors will be


conducted by VSO Bahaginan
• to help ensure that they are clarified on the roles
and characteristics of mentors.

Mentees are invited to attend the training to ensure


that there is a shared understanding between the
mentor and the mentee of the volunteer
management system
