 WHAT IS EQUILATERAL
TRIANGLE?
• In geometry, an equilateral triangle is a
triangle in which all three sides are equal.
In traditional or Euclidean geometry,
equilateral triangles are also equiangular;
that is, all three internal angles are also
congruent to each other and are each 60°.
They are regular polygons, and can
therefore also be referred to as regular
triangles.

 Example:
• What is the area of a triangle, whose one
side is 4 and all the angles are 60 degree
each.
• Answer :
• Area = sqrt(3)/4 * side^2
• =1.7*4
• =6.9 approx.

 Example
• What is the area of an incircle inside a
triangle, whose one side is 6 and all the
angles are 60 degree each.
• Radius = side * sqrt(3) / 6
• = 6 * 1.7/6
• =1.7
• Area = pi*radius*radius
• =22/7 * 1.7 = 5.34 answer

 Example
• What is the area of an circumcircle inside
a triangle, whose one side is 6 and all the
angles are 60 degree each.
• Radius = side * sqrt(3) / 3
• = 6 * (1.7)/3 = 3.4
• Area = pi*radius * radius
• = 22/7*3.4*3.4
• =10.7 approx. answer

 What is a regular polygon?
• Any shape which has more than 2 sides is
polygon like square, triangle, hexagon (6
sides), octagon (8 sides) etc.
• All the angles of a polygon are equal. So
square and rectangles are regular
polygons. A hexagon will be a regular
polygon only if all its angles are equal,
then all the sides will also be equal.

What is the area of a hexagon?
• Hexagon consists of 6 equilateral triangles
• Thus area of hexagon is 6* formula for
equilateral triangle.
• Example :
• What is the area of hexagon when its one
side is 2 and all the angles are equal (of 60
degrees).
• Formula = 6 * sqrt(3)/4 * 2*2
• =10.4 approx.

What is the formula of diagonal of a
square?
• Area of square = ½ * diagonal * diagonal
• Area of square = side * side
• Thus if one side is given we can also find
diagonal.
• If one side is 2, area is 4
• 4 = 2*product of diagonals
• D^2 = 2 or diagonal = sqrt(2) = 1.4 approx.

 What is cuboid?
• When there is 3 dimentional shape, we
call it cube or cuboid. When all the sides
(height, length, and width) are equal, it is
cube. When these are different, we called
cuboid.
• Volume of cuboid : length*bredth*height
• Example find volume of cuboid : L=4,
W=3, H=2 meters
• Volume = 4*3*2 = 24 cubic meters.
