ABOUT PGESCO.
PGESCo, was establish in 1993 as a cooperation between the ministry of Electricity
And energy of Egyptian government, Bechtel power corporation of the USA and
commercial international Bank of Egypt (CIB) with the following Mission, purpose
and principles. In 2012 Bechtel start to separate and new vision and mission has been
established.
PGESCo. provides engineering, procurement, project management services related
to the design of electric power generating plants of all types as well as
complementary, supplementary or related services, whether locally or abroad.
PGESCo is determined to maximize the utilization Of Egyptian national resources,
both personnel and material. PGESCO emphasizes on realizing and enhancing local
Egyptian engineering capability through extensive technology transfer programs to
train national engineers in current state-of-the-art design practices.

OVERALL STRATEGY
PGESCo is adopting an Analyzer generic strategy that builds on the market needs and plans
against the competitor efforts in market
PGESCo is adopting a (Cash-Cow Model Portfolio) due to the high market share it has in the
Egyptian market driven by high reputation and excellent cost leadership .
On the other hand, PGESCo in the Arab Market is adopting an (Investment Model Portfolio)
through high business growth rate to make full use of the high growing market their
Strategy Period February 2014 to January 2016 January 2016 to July 2018

CHALLENGE
The challenge was a conflict between PGESCO Strategy and BECHTEL Strategy which was
preventing PGESCO to penetrate MENA markets.
After BECHTEL separation, PGESCo challenged to penetrate MENA markets through
Radical organizational change.
