ACC (ACC Limited) is India's foremost manufacturer of cement and concrete.

ACC's
operations are spread throughout the country with 17 modern cement factories, more
than 40 Ready mix concrete plants, 21 sales offices, and several zonal offices. It has a
workforce of about 9,000 persons and a countrywide distribution network of over
9,000 dealers.

Since inception in 1936, the company has been a trendsetter and important benchmark
for the cement industry in many areas of cement and concrete technology. ACC has a

As the largest cement producer in India, it is one of the biggest customers of the
domestic coal industry, of Indian Railways, and a considerable user of the countrys
road transport network services for inward and outward movement of materials and
products.

Among the first companies in India to include commitment to environmental
protection as one of its corporate objectives, the company installed sophisticated
pollution control equipment as far back as 1966, long before pollution control laws
came into existence

Customer complaint handling system:- ACC has an online customer complaint handling
system which is designed to log complaints received from consumers. This activity of logging
of consumer complaints is undertaken by the Customer service personnel from the Sales units.
Lakshya II :- Lakshya is an on-line dealer loyalty program for ACC Dealers. This is a first of
its kind in the cement industry started in 2007.
Customer service excellence :- CSX (Customer Service Excellence), is an initiative targeted
to improve our relationship with Influencers



Strategic level:-
The strategic supply chain processes that management has to decide
upon will cover the breadth of the supply chain. These include product
development, customers, manufacturing, vendors and logistics.

Tactical level:-
I. SAP-ERP package is used in ACC. The SAP ERP application is an
integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
manufactured by SAP AG .

I. Company also uses OTRR (On-time rake return) to check on the
movements of the goods.

With inventory management ACC has customised its product
catalogue to hide products that are not in stock, and has
changed prices based on the amount of products available in
the warehouse. The quantity available is displayed to the
shopper and this prevents unnecessary confusion when the
shopper adds items not available to a shopping cart.

1. ERP BASED SOLUTIONS:-
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an integrated computer based system used
to manage internal and external resources including tangible assets, financial
resources, materials and human resources.

(ERP) software manufactured by SAP AG that targets business software
requirements of midsize and large organizations in all industries and
sectors.

functions.


Intranet portal system

1. The Company has an Intranet Portal called Accelerate which is dedicated
to employees.

3. This Intranet Portal basically helps the employees to communicate with
their employer as well as with their colleagues.

Network system

a) ACC have invested in the creation of a comprehensive infrastructure that
allows free flow of information across the organization.

b) This enables almost instant communication between all levels in the
organization. A hybrid WAN network connects each of their 275 plants
locations.

Security system
a. All departments of ACC has their own separate SAP ERP solution.

b. . A department can access only its SAP package system i.e. it cant access
the SAP system of any other department for e.g.- HR department cannot
access the Finance departments SAP package and vice versa.
IT department of the company should now work towards integrating the
system on a higher level and making the company Paper-Less Office. This
should be done by integrating the system in a way that the manual
intervention be minimized in the day-to-day process.
The company should also start Web-Based ordering and selling, so that to be
able to catch up with the growing industry.
As more improvements in MIS would be done, and Web-support to be also
incorporated, it is more than sure that current Network available is going to
crash. To cop this, company needs to upgrade its network

With each up gradation, we suggest training to the managers of the company
about effectively using the added functionalities and use of them in a better
way. This can be also done by providing a handbook along with each up
gradation.
