DEMAND FORECASTING OF HONDA

Honda Motors Ltd, the worlds largest two-wheeler manufacturer for nine
consecutive years, today reported record sales of over 4.6 million units for FY10.
With over a million units in sales posted for every quarter of this fiscal, the
company concludes another record-breaking year of sales growth. The company
has been consistently demonstrating a high growth momentum over the years.
The company has also recently announced a Special Silver Jubilee Dividend of
4000% in recognition of the companys strong financial performance.

For demand forecasting the frequently used statistical technique is
demand estimation. Here we have a dependent variable (sales) and one or
more independent variable (time), and we are interested in ascertaining
the extent each independent variable have on the dependent variable

Demand estimation is of two types: -
1. Simple regression model- This is a model where only one
independent variable is taken into consider.
2. Multiple regression model- This is a model where several
independent variables are taken into consideration.
