Evergreen is owned by the community Evergreen General Hospital opened its doors on March 9, 1972. Evergreen is a 290 bed Medical center which includes medical groups, home care, hospice and many community health programs. The facilities health education , RN phone services and free clinic are all funded by Levy funding. Some services are funded entirely by levy money, others are enhanced with levy money. Evergreen is able to provide certain services because of the support received from the community.

Financing was limited to raising money with tax supported bonds Upon opening facility in 1972, hardly any of the 76 beds were filled with patients It was a brand new facility and people did not know what to expect regarding service and care Located on a hill in the middle of nowhere Carpeting was not finish on opening day Sawdust was still on the ER cabinets Evergreen Health Ctr II.
