INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
SCOPE AND LIIMITATION
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
INTRODUCTION
In an era verged to digital devices, the dominance
and influence of smartphones in the world are
indisputable.

Background of the Study
As the world advances, the worlds power
consumption surges. Magnified by the
upward power demand from game
consoles, high-tech appliances,
smartphones, computers and other
network-capable devices.
Energy crisis as a global problem and
electricity consumption is incessantly
increasing its percentage to peoples
expenditure.

Background of the Study
In the Philippines, electric bill rate (as of 2013) is the fifth
highest electricity prices in the world, and highest in Asia
Background of the Study
Produce a device capable of
regulating and real-time
monitoring of the power
consumption of plugged devices
even in remote places.

Conceptual Framework
Statement of the Problem
This project aims to resolve the following
problems:

1. How will the ARO Plug help the user to
control electric consumption of the appliance?
2. How can the device protect the appliances
from overloading?

Scope and Limitation
The system can control power mechanism and monitors
the power consumption in real-time remotely over the
internet or within the local area network
The system will provide a dedicated Android application
which is compatible from Ice Cream Sandwich to Android
L API for GUI. Also included in the application is the SQL
Lite Database for storing the data that will be
accumulated in the device.
The project will be a portable device with its compact
design that will allow the user to carry it anywhere
conveniently whenever the user wanted to use it in
other places.
The application will provide away detection, overload
protection, power scheduling and data history of power
consumption which also analyze the consumption of
every plugged device in kWh.

Scope and Limitation
Regulatory optimizer plug can hold up to two devices
The system requires internet connection to remotely
access the plug away from household or establishment.
Other methods of connecting to available internet
connection besides Wi-Fi Protected Set-up form for the
regulator optimizer plug are not permissible.
The specialized plug can only be applied to 220-240V
source.
Using plug extension will cause inaccuracy in the several
functionality of the regulatory optimizer plug
The total power consumption shown in the Android
Application is not the whole kWh usage of the
household or office unless the user uses the specialized
plug to all devices and appliances.

Significance of the Study
Contribute in diminishing the consumption of vampire power
which consume by the plugged devices and appliances when
switched off.

Significance of the Study
This will help to lessen the power consumption as well
as the power demand of the user which in a country like
Philippines, where electricity supply is critical and
expensive to use methods on how to achieve these
goals are significant.
Alongside with this, its remote features provides sense
of security to the user that no overlooked appliance or
device is running when he or she is away and the project
per se could contribute to dampen the worsening of
Energy Crisis globally.
Furthermore, this project can inspire other researchers
to construct a device that will contribute to solve a
substantial problem with the use of smartphone.

CHAPTER 2
SYNTHESIS AND RELEVANCE OF THE RELATED
LITERATURE AND STUDIES
Synthesis and Relevance of the Related
Literature and Studies
According to the insights in the article of C. Weiner I. Shonle
and research study of Mr. Abhishek Vichare and Ms. Shilpa
Verma, energy regulator and monitoring will diverge the
tedious activity of powering off each appliance one by one
and lack of information regarding electricity usage.
Consuming electricity with efficient will be attained as the
application of these concepts are giving the consumer an
ability to unplugged devices automatically and know the
status of energy usage rightaway.
Intents to create a device that will apply automation
technology for monitoring and regulation of plugged devices
or appliances as well as generating consumption reports.

Synthesis and Relevance of the Related
Literature and Studies
Gonzalo Delgado Huitron stated . By adding a wireless
controller, you would have the convenience of being able to
turn off all devices in a certain section of your house (living
room, kitchen, entertainment room) remotely. The
proponents will utilize this with the integration of
smartphones. As the regulation in electricity consumption
is being implemented frequently, the portion of wasted
electricity is low especially by the standby power which
also emphasized by Engr. Huitron.
As a whole, the correlation and significance of the related
studies and literature stated is the concepts, technologies,
and features being ascribed to them that will be integrated
to the project per se

RESEARCH METHODS AND DESIGN
POPULATION, SAMPLE SIZE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
STATISTICAL TREATMENT
SAMPLE OF INITIAL PROPOSED PROTOTYPE

Research Methods And Design
A. Descriptive Research Method
Acquire variables by interview from the target
households and then to study the relationship
among the variables that can contribute to the
improvement and effectivity of the project
Gather data from the target households such as
what activities or scenarios they think that affecting
the power consumption unproductively, about their
energy electricity usage before using the regulatory
optimizer plug and during the use of it.

Research Methods And Design
B. Internet and Library Research
As the foundation for this project has already
been stabilized, the proponents would also
researching local and foreign studies, concepts
and projects in the internet and libraries that
are interrelated to the variables of the project.

Population, Sample Size And
Sampling Technique
The target sample that would be
subjected to this project would be
approximately 10% of the 200
households in EL Pueblo, Building C.
Simple random sampling will be used in
selection of the respondents.
Description of Respondents
The target households are the ones that
currently residing in El Pueblo, Building C. Each
member of every household which have the
control in administrating the power
consumption will be surveyed. On the other
hand, one household would be subjected in
testing the project.
Data Gathering Procedure
A. Observation
Acquire additional information regarding the
electricity consumption of an establishment during the use
of the regulatory optimizer plug by seeing the system in
action especially from the selected household as a subject.
B. Interview
With the constructed questions, the proponents
would be able to draw out the needed facts. The data that
would be acquired in the survey are essential to improve
the project itself.
C. Research
The proponents would conduct systematic research
for pertinent information on a research problems stated in
this project. It includes reviewing either local or foreign
articles, technical materials, or studies.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT
The proponents would use statistical mean
which average the answers of the respondents
by the formula:
=
1

=1

Then, ranking of the answers would be
created to analyze the results.
