Database Creation
The Oracle Database used for ASSET Planner is created using Database
Configuration Assistant. It creates a database shell that has table spaces and
parameters configured for the use of ASSET Planner.
For Creating the ASSET Planner Oracle Database copy the following templates in to
C:\Oracle\Ora92\Assistant\dbca\templates.
Once the oracle database template have been copied, start the Oracle Database
Creation Assistant.
Select Start/Program/Oracle-Orahome 92\ Configuration and Migration

ASSET Installation
To install the ASSET Planner, insert the ASSET Planner CD in your CD ROM drive and if
does not start automatically, double click the file setup.exe in the ASSET Planner
directory.
Install ASSET planner with following options:
ASSET Installation
ASSET Planner Interfaces Functionality: It is used to transfer the data between ASSET
Planner and ASSET configuration or import interference matrices from ASSET
Optimizer you need to install these features by following steps:
Run NAP Interfaces.exe in the installation CD in the directory:
This is self extracting package that unzips the necessary components to a temporary
directory of your choice.(C:\Temp\ASSET Install).
ASSET Installation
Navigate the Unzip directory and run the ASSET Installer.exe. This screen appears
showing the installation directories.
ASSET Installation
Click Install the features are copied to their correct locations and registered. This
message appears for each successful registration. (this should occur 3 times.)
Click EXIT.
Dongle Installation
Click OK ASSET planner starts to create tables and procedures. Wait until it finishes.
Before logging out click Utilities, then double click Coordinate system. A message is
displayed, informing you that the existing coordinate database will be overwritten.

Feeders
Go to Equipment> Feeder.
Add Feeder give the Part ID in General Tab, add the characteristics of the Feeder in
Losses Tab, then apply.
Templates (1/2)
To Create a new site manually, first step is to prepare site template.
Go to Database> Templates
Expand Cell Site, right click on site and click on Add Cell to create sectors.
To create more than one template right click on Cell Site and click on Add
Template.
Templates (2/2)
After adding the sectors to the site change the Antenna, Azimuth and Model
(Optional) or any parameter which you want to keep in common.
If you want to add the cell layer to the cells, just right-click the cell you added, and
from the menu that appears, click Add Cell Layer;
Apply and close.

Carriers
Go to Configuration> Carrier> GSM+GPRS
In System Carriers add carriers, it can be done in three ways: By specifying the Carrier range in ARFCN format
By specifying a single Carrier in ARFCN format
By adding the whole carriers for GSM Frequency
Coverage Schemas
Go to Configuration> GSM Coverage Schemas
Click on Add to create a new coverage schema, and in the right pane Coverage
Categories , click Add to add new category.
In the Label box enter a description, then choose a colour.
Click Close to exit the Coverage Schemas dialog box.
3.
Filters (1/7)
Go to Database> Filters, expand user then click on Add to add a new filter.
Filter can be created by many logics, it can also created by using flags that we have
created in the beginning.
Filters (2/7)
To create filter, we need to follow six step of filter wizard.
First step:- Name the filter and click next.
Filters (3/7)
Any rule can be selected to create rule for the filter, by select the Available Attributes
from the left pane and click the right arrow.
One or more attribute could be selected. Right click on the OR to change the Boolean
expression to AND.
Click Next
Filters (4/7)
Third step is to set the values of the selected attributes like Primary Prediction Models.
Click on Values, Select Value window will appear, check the value from the window
and click OK.
Click Next
Filters (5/7)
Forth step is to select the Filter Type, Dynamic or Static.
To make the filter static, we have different rules which given in the tabs (Identifiers,
File list, Filters & Map View ) shown in the second figure.
Click Next.
Filters (6/7)
Fifth step is of display properties.
You can also change in the display properties of the sites for each filters after creating
the filter.
Click Next.

Global Edit
In some cases, you may need to perform a massive modification of certain
parameter(s) either to all sites or a group of sites.
To perform such modifications, Open the Site Database window and click on Global
Edit button.
Global Edit
The Global Editor window appears, Select the Filter, go to the tab where you wish to
modify the parameter(s).
Type in the changes and click Apply, after performing your massive modification, click on
Commit All on the Site Database window.
Exercise: 1
Task 1: Create a project name Test_2G Plan and change the color of each
clutter type.
Task 2: Create polygon to cover the city, and place new sites to cover that area.
Task 3: Make filters to group the sites of each clutter Dense Urban, Urban etc.
Coverage Analysis
Pathloss Prediction
To perform the coverage prediction for cells, assure the below items are assigned:
Equipment, including antennas
Propagation models
Pathloss Prediction
Go to Tools> Pathloss Predictor, the Pathloss Predictor window appears.
Select from the option given on the top of the window for site selection to generate
Pathloss prediction. Click Start.
Check the prediction detail Total Prediction should be equal to Complete.
Exercise: 2
Task 1: Cover the area of your polygon with 95% coverage at -90dBm. Also give
area wise coverage.
DU 80% at -65dBm.
U 80% at -75dBm.
SU 85% at -85dBm
RU 95% at -90dBm.
Task 2: Generate excel for coverage statistic for each clutter type.
Traffic Analysis
Terminal Types
Go to Configuration> Terminal Types.
Click on Add Button, Give a name to the Terminal type and change technology to
GSM/UMTS from the drop down.
Terminal Types
Next step, on clutter tab select from Weight or Density to spread the traffic.
To fill in Density you need to know the traffic density of each tab, else select Weight and
fill the estimated total traffic in respective clutter.
If you think that a particular clutter will not have terminal (ex. Water), then put weight =0
Terminal Types
Next step, on Cell Layer tab move the cell layer which is in use from Available to Selected,
by choosing the right arrow key.
Click Apply and Commit, now close the window.
Exercise: 3
Task 1: Run the Traffic wizard to spread traffic all over the clutter.
Neighbor Planning
Neighbor Wizard
Go To Tools> Neighbor> Neighbor Wizard.
Window open Neighbor Planner, select view and click Next.
Next step, select the sites either from view or from the filters.
Click Next.
Neighbor Wizard
Next step, select the Plan type from the left pane, click Next.
In fifth step give the path to save the neighbor file.
Click Next.
Neighbor Wizard
Click Finish.
Result open in the
Neighbor Analysis window.
Click on Make All Mutual.
Update Database.
Neighbor Wizard
To check the created neighbor,
open Data Type, expand
Neighbors/Exceptions, check Hand
over neighbors, click redraw.

Go to Reports> Site/Node
Report, report generator window
appear.
Use the tabs to select the
information you want to generate
for the site, cell or any other
elements.
XML Export
Go to File> Export> XML.
Browse the path to the folder where the xml files need to be saved.
