emerging challenges faced by the global economy
through innovative enhancement tools. As a result, it
has been improving productivity quality in large
companies, eliminating wasting of time and
resources, and consequently providing further
employment worldwide.

FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)

It is a systematic, proactive method
for evaluating a process to identify
where and how it can fail. Moreover,
it also serves to assess the impact
that these failures may have, and
linking all this information, it
identifies which parts of the process
are most in need of being changed.
Based on FMEAs concepts was
created the chart 1* which show how
to evaluate the impact of the new
process, it was useful in assessing
minimize impacts. From these data,
noted the need to hire and train

philosophy developed by Motorola that emphasizes setting
extremely high objectives, collecting data, and analyzing
results to a fine degree as a way to reduce defects in products
and services. In other words, it is a methodology aimed at the
continuous improvement of processes, it is possible to achieve
benefits such as reducing the length of stay of patients in the
emergency department or increase the turnover of rooms in
the operating room. Before the implementation of this process,
the hospital was using a common system or Four Sigma.
Working with a Six Sigma process, the process produces only
3.4 errors per 1 million times that it is done. As a result, it was
possible to achieve benefits such as reducing the length of
stay of patients in the emergency department or increase the
turnover of rooms in the operating room.

Human-Machine Interactions
According to Grandjean (2005), human-machine system is
characterized by a reciprocal relationship between these two
components. The man to work need the information
provided by the machine itself and vice versa. The engineer
has implemented a training of equipping future employees
to better understand the workings of the machine,
demonstrated through the analysis of a closed loop control
(Table 5*), through it was possible to convince the directors
of the hospital that they needed to have a larger number of
employees working by equipment at scale shift, because a
machine does not need to rest but the human being need to
has his journey of work differentiated.

Industrial Engineering Timeline

The Industrial Engineerings history

major in 1909 at the Pennsylvania
State University.
According to the Institute of Industrial Engineers
(1995), Industrial engineering is concerned with the
design, improvement and installation of integrated
systems of people, materials, information, equipment
and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and
skill in the mathematical, physical, and social
sciences together with the principles and methods of
engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict,

Conclusion
Lean Manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing means eliminating all forms of waste from
the production process. His first goal was the elimination of
unnecessary activities, waste that only raise costs leaving the
business less competitive and hurt the quality. To implement
the lean system the first step is "learn to see". In other words,
learn to view the activities and steps that do not create value;
therefore, could be characterized as waste. Thus, it can
distinguish fundamental steps that create value and those that
did not believe should be eliminated within the routines of the
hospital. For example, the time wasted easily detected in any
hospital environment, can be minimized by management
changes, such as better fit the agendas of doctors and staffs,
and layout flows more efficient, more agile forms of care, the
categorizations for different types of patients, among other
actions. From the Table 3* (Herman Miller, 2014), it can be
concluded that Lean Manufacturing is one of the first steps to

To sum it all up, it is believed that

this article helps to reduce the
gap between human-machine
divergences. There are three
ways to build this bridge,
enhancing productivity quality,
reducing wasting of time and
resources,
subsequently
providing further hire worldwide.
By this way, the industrial
engineering will be a crucial
factor between success and
failure in the global economy
while this major assists in the
generation of new employment
opportunities. Briefly, engineers
make dreams possible, but

make
impossible dreams become true.
