unregistered to PCA.
These are mostly located in Metro Manila,
Batangas and Cebu City

Scope
- applies to chilled packaged products from young coconut
(Cocos nucifera L.), with or without addition of tender young
coconut solid endosperm, potable water, and permitted
sweeteners.
- should be stored at refrigeration temperature not exceeding
40C.
Classifications
1. Buko juice
1.1 100% Buko juice - refers to the unmodified natural
aqueous liquid of 6-9 month old coconut, the appearance
of which ranges from clear to slightly turbid.
1.2 Buko Juice with tender solid endosperm - refers to
buko juice with the addition of tender solid endosperm
from 6 to 8 month-old coconut.

Classifications
2. Buko juice drink
2.1 Buko juice with water, with or without sweetener,
without tender solid endosperm - refers to buko juice
with or without permitted sweeteners and without tender
solid
2.2 Buko Juice with water, with or without sweetener,
and with tender solid endosperm - refers to buko juice
with the addition of potable water, with or without
permitted sweeteners and with tender solid endosperm
from 6 to 8 month-old coconuts.

-The product shall have the characteristic appearance, taste and aroma of a

Sweeteners
- Includes sugar and permitted artificial sweeteners may be added
and when used shall be in accordance with the regulations of the
Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD).

Microbiological standards
Total plate count (TPC) <10,000 cfu/ml
Yeast and mold count (MYC) <250 cfu/mL
Total coliform count <10 cfu/mL

Health Benefits
A Natural Diuretic 
Effective in the treatment of kidney and urethral stones 
Can be injected intravenously in emergency case.
Found as blood plasma substitute because it is sterile,
does not produce heat, does not destroy red blood cells
and is readily accepted by the body.
Aids the quick absorption of drugs and makes their
peak concentration in the blood easier by its electrolytic
