The Bible refers to premarital sex as
FORNICATION.
Fornication is sexual intercourse

Adultery involves married persons

while Fornication involves those who
are unmarried.

When God brought Adam and Eve

together in marriage, he established
the one flesh relationship

PROBLEM IS IT MORAL?

Morality is a factor for many people

when deciding whether or not to have
premarital sex.
According to a study conducted by the
University of the Philippines Population
Institute and Demographic Research and
Development Foundation Inc. revealed
that one of three Filipino youth aged to
15 to 24 has engaged in premarital sex,

have experienced regularly having sex
with friends they are not in romantic

COMMON DANGERS OF PMS

Teenage pregnancy Studies conducted by different

health and population organizations indicate that there is
an increase in the number of teenage pregnancies in the
country.
HIV/AIDS Teenagers, some as young as 15 have been
diagnosed HIV-positive according to a study conducted
by the Department of Health (DOH). 118 of the new HIV
patients belong to the 15 to 24 age bracket. HIV
infections are now happening to younger people. The
rise of Filipino youth engaging in unprotected premarital
sex is a contributing factor to the rise of sexually
transmitted diseases in the country such as HIV.

WHAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SAYS ABOUT THE ISSUE?

According to the Bible verse Let marriage be

held in honor among all, and let the marriage
bed be undefiled, for God will judge the
sexually immoral and adulterous. Hebrew
13:4.
The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is the term
for the sacrament of marriage.
Only in marriage do we find Gods blessing on
the act of sexual love or usually termed as
marital love

This understanding is evident in Jesus

response to the Pharisees question regarding
divorce: "Have you not read that at the
beginning the Creator made them male and
female and declared, For this reason a man
shall leave his father and mother and cling to
his wife, and the two shall become as one?
Thus they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore let no man separate what God has
joined" (Matthew 19:4-6).

Taking sexual love outside the context of

marriage is contrary to the dignity of each
person and of marriage.
From encyclical The Gospel of Life: "Sexuality too
is depersonalized and exploited, from being the
sign, place and language of love, that is, of the
gift of self and acceptance of another, in all the
others richness as a person, it increasingly
becomes the occasion and instrument for selfassertion and the selfish satisfaction of
personal desires and instincts".

1. When people say its not realistic to tell
teenagers not to have sex,
- what theyre really saying is that you do not
have the strength, the courage, or the
common sense to practice self-control;
- You are not capable of saying NO to sex!
2. Nobody is trying to tell you that restraining
from sex is easy.
- Remember that nothing worthwhile in life
comes easy.
3. Dont fall for the misleading slogan,
EVERYONE IS DOING IT. There is no such
thing for you.
4. Experience is not a requirement

Virginity doesnt have the moral value

attached to it that we think it should have.

person, youre not even seeing that person. In
fact, your view ofother personsis depraved.
Masturbation is not a sin. For men, or at
least me,sexual release isa biological
need, the equivalent of taking a dump, and
just as necessary. And youre just as unpleasant
to be around if you really need to do itbut dont.
