Klasifikasi aktivitas fisik adalah :
1. low intensity physical activity: 0-3 METs.
2. moderate-intensity physical activity: 3-6 METs
Bekerja cukup keras untuk meningkatan
denyut jantung dan berkeringat, namun masih
bisa bercakap-cakap.
Contoh: jalan 4,8 km/jam (4,5 METs),
badminton-santai (4,5 METs), bersepeda- lahan
datar dan pelan 16,1-19,3 km/jam (6,0 METs),
dansa-slow (3,0 METs), renang santai (6,0
METs), tenis double (5,9 METs).

Contoh: Jalan cepat (setengah jam) 7,2 km/jam
(6,3 METs), Jogging 8,1 km/jam (8,0 METs), lari
11,3 km/jam (11,5 METs), basket-game (8,0
METs), sepak bola kompetisi (10,0 METs), Tenistunggal (8,0 METs).
1 METs adalah jumlah energi yang dibutuhkan
untuk aktivitas duduk diam dan seimbang
dengan konsumsi kalori sebesar 1 kkal/kg/jam.
