By Austin Wagner

Thesis Statement

The Violence seen in the Islamic religion throughout the course of History can
be blamed on the literal interpretations of jihad in response to the success
and interference of western civilizations

Patrick J> Buchanan To some Americans, searching for a new enemy against who to
test our mettle and power, after the death of the death of communism, Islam is the
preferred antagonist. But to declare Islam an enemy of the U.S. is to declare a
second cold war that is unlikely to end in the same resounding victory as the first.

September 11th attacks

Hamid Mir (editor of the Urdu daily Ausaf)

America and its allies are massacring us (Muslims) in Palestine, Chechnya,

Kashmir, and Iraq. The Muslims have the right to attack America in reprisal. The
attacks of September 11 were not targeted at women and children but the
American icons of military and economic power. Americans should remember
they pay taxes to their government, who manufactures arms and gives them to
Israel. Israel then uses this to massacre our people. America is responsible for
the atrocities perpetrated against Muslims.

Syed Ahmad Bukhani (of the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid in Delhi)

Feels no grief for the attacks and hopes the U.S. is erased from the face of this
earth by our Muslim fighters

Called out the Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf

He has bowed his head to America which is beneath any Muslim

It is clear the goal of Muslims is not to only remove the U.S. from the Middle
East but erase them as a whole

The only justification of these ideas would be a misunderstanding of the term

jihad

Conclusion

The U.S. has asserted its dominance in the Middle East

This has proposed a threat to the Islamic states and caused irrational
intentions and consequences to not only the U.S. military but to all citizens
living in the U.S.
