Conversion Formulas
Converting Per Unit Ohms to a new base:
PU Ohms (New Base) = PU Ohms (Old Base) (New Base/Old Base)
Example: 30MVA Transformer with Impedance of 12% on its own base.
We want to convert its impedance to 100MVA, the system base.
Convert % to Per Unit: 12% / 100
= 0.12 per unit @30MVA
Converting to 100MVA base:
PU Ohms (100MVA) = (0.12pu) (100MVA/30MVA)
= 0.40pu @ 100MVA
