The West and Islam

For example,
it is enthusiastically
Human
Rights claimed that the

world first derived the concept of basic human

rights from the Magna Carta of Britain - which
was drawn up six hundred years after the advent
of Islam.

the West had no concept of human and civic

(public,community) rights before the seventeenth
century;
it was not until the end of the eighteenth century
After this, references appeared to basic human
rights in the constitutions of many countries,
more often these rights existed only on paper

Islam-Human Rights
integral part of the Islamic faith
All Muslims and all administrators who claim to be Muslim
have to accept, recognize and enforce them.
"Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down are
the disbelievers (Kafirun)." (5:44)
"They are the wrong-doers (zalimoon)". (5:45)
"They are the perverse and law-breakers (fasiqoon)." (5:47)
Prophet (PBUH):The (true) Muslim is the one from whose
tongue and hand other Muslims are safe

Basic human Rights

Right to Life
foremost basic right
Whosoever kills a human being
without (any reason like) man,
slaughter, or corruption on
earth, it is as though he had
killed all mankind ... (5:32)

Benefits
of
fasting
Do not kill a soul which Allah has made sacred
except through the due process of law ... (6:151)
'The Right to Life' has been given to man only by
Islam
2. The Right to the Safety of Life
"And whoever saves a life it is as though he had
saved the lives of all mankind" (5:32).

There can be several forms of saving man from

death irrespective of his nationality:
ill or wounded

is dying of starvation

drowning or his life is at stake

Talmud, the religious book of the Jews,

contains a verse of similar nature, but records
it in altogether different form. It says:
"Whoever destroyed a life of the Israelite, in
the eyes of the Scripture, it is as if he
destroyed the whole world. And whoever
protected and saved one life of the Israelite, in
the light of the Scripture, it is as if he saved
the whole world."

Right To Justice
important and valuable right
All citizens have equal rights
A woman of high social standing committed theft
..Prophet said: some of your predecessors destroyed
because they freed the noble men among them who
stole and punished the powerless commoners. By Allah if
Fatima binte Mohammad stole I would cut her hand off
"Do not let your hatred of a people incite (stimulate)you to
aggression (voilancce,atack) (5:2).
""Do not let your hatred of a people incite you to
aggression"
(5:2).
"And
do
not
let ill-will towards any folk incite you so that you swerve
(change direction) from dealing justly. Be just; that is nearest
to heedfulness" (5:8). (5:8).

1.

Muslims have to be just not only with

ordinary human beings but
even with their enemies.
2. the justice to which Islam invites her
followers is not limited only to the
citizens of their own country, or the
people of their own tribe, nation or race,
or the Muslim community as a whole
3. It is for all the human beings of the
world. Muslims therefore, cannot be
unjust to anyone.
4. Their permanent habit and character

fear injustice at their hands, and they
should treat every human being
