- Born: January 17, 1917


Manila
- He started his music studies
at the academy of Music in
Manila.
- He went to Paris to study.
- He eventually pursued
advanced studies in USA
and earned a Doctorate
Degree in Ethnomusicology
from UCLA.

Musical Style changed


when he encountered the
music of indigenous tribes
of mindoro in 1953. he
then embarked on his
lifes work, dedicated to
the understanding and
preservation of filipino
traditional music.

Maceda
combined
sounds of the
environment
with ethnic
music.

Womens University.

- Kasilags compositions
demonstrated a fusion of
Eastern and Western styles
in using instruments,
melody, harmony and
rhythm.
- She is particularly known for
incorporating indigenous
Filipino instruments into
orchestral productions.

- Age 11: he gave his first

Bamboo Organ in Las

- He was the youngest


finalist to participate in the
National Music Competition
for Young Artists (NAMCYA)
piano competition in 1978.
- After high School: he was
sent on full scholarship to
the University for Music and
Performing Arts in Graz,
Austria.
