ICHTHYOSIS

VULGARIS

Introduction
Ichtyosis one of ichtyocyform disease,
which is marked with differentiated
abnormality from the epidermal.
Ichthyosis Vulgaris The type of
ichthyosis, most founded on children with
autosomal dominant inheritance.

Introduction
The sign of ichthyosis are :
Smooth squama like scales of fish, on
the extensor surface of arms and legs,
the skin of head, and on the flexures.
Thickened on the palm and sole also
can be found.

Epidemiology
Ichthyosis vulgaris is most founded type
of ichthyosis
Sometime start to occure when the babies
born. Usually found at baby with age 312 month, and same equivalent between
boys and girls.

Epidemiology
The risk factor possibilities to suffer ichthyosis
vulgaris :
Family member that suffering ichthyosis
Cold weather
Bath habit, usually long time and with warm
water
Hard soap or detegent
Using soap that contains fragrant.

Ichthyosis vulgaris predilection

Etiopathogenesis
The cause of ichthyosis vulgaris are
unknown. Guessed because less of
prophylagrine and it phylaments that
contains in epidermis.

Clinical Manifestation
Usually found since born, and between 312 month. Like scales on almost the body
surface.
The most area is on extensor surface,
which smooth scales . The more rough
scales is on the lower extremity

Clinical Manifestation
Usually hiperkeratosis happened on the
palm of hand and sole of foot.
The scaly skin condition clearly seen on
the outside skin surface especially on the
cold and dry weather.

Shiny Dry skin with white lines

The scrap on the palm on ichthiosis vulgaris,


compared with normal palm.

Further Examination
The spesific result cannot be found by
laboratory examination.
On histological examination, can be
found hiperkeratosis, abnormal
keratohyaline, and none of inflammation
process.

Shows epidermal atrophy with thinning of


the granular layer

Diagnosis
Ichthyosis vulgaris can be diagnose by
skin examination and scale
charatheristics.
Hiperkeratosis can be found on the palm
of hand and sole of foot.
Ichthyosis history on family must be
counted.

Differential Diagnose
Ichthyosis vulgaris can be differentiated
with :
Xerosis
X-linked ichthyosis
Lamellare Ichthyosis

Therapy
Ichthyosis vulgaris usually treated with
topical therapy with direct and early
charatheristics :
Alpha-hydroxy acid
Propylene gycol
Some products contains 10-20% urea
Scales can be decreased by keratolytic

Therapy
Topical retinoid (such as tretinoine) might
be used.
Take a bath with salt water can help by
hydrating the lipid layers.

Complication
The extremity skin may become crack
and developing to secondary infection, if
there is a wound scratch that can make
the skin easy to be contaminated by
bacteria.

Prognose
The prognosis of ichthyosis vulgaris,
depends on the systemic disease which
based it.
