Introduction
Knowing oneself and

managing

accordingly.
Workers are their own chief
executive officers
Knowing our strengths, weaknesses ,
values, how we learn, how we work
with others and where we can make
the greatest contribution.
Managing oneself is crucial for
success and achievement in every
field.

What are my
strengths
Need to figure out about peoples

strength
A person can perform only from
strength
The only way to analyze and discover
your strength is through feedback
analysis.

Improve
your
strengths

Concentrat
e on your
strengths

How do I perform
Different people work different ways
It is matter of personality
Way of performing can be slightly modified

A few common personality traits that usually

determine how a person performs
Am I a reader or a listener ?
How do I learn?
Do I work well with people, or am I a loner?
Do I Produce results as a decision maker or as adviser?
Do I perform well under stress, or do I need a highly

structured and predictable environment?

Do I work best in a big organization or a small one?

Values
Values are the strong belief
The mirror test of ethics
Conflicts of personal values vs corporate

value
Short term vs. long term growth
Conflict between personal strengths and
values

Where do I belong?
Right person at right place

in right time.
Once knowing our
strengths, working style
and values ,we become
able to decide where we
belong.

What can I contribute?

A

knowledge workers contribution should

involve the answer to the following questions:
What does the situation require?
Given my strengths, my way of performing, and

my values, how can I make the greatest

contribution to what needs to be done?
What results have to be achieved to make the
difference?

We can say that it is rarely possible to look

too far ahead

Achieve meaningful results and make a

difference
Set stretched and difficult goals that are
achievable
Gain visible and measurable outcome
Course of action:

Define what to do, where and how to start, and goals objectives
and deadlines should be set.

Responsibility for
relationship
Very few people work by themselves and achieve results by

themselves.
Managing yourself requires taking responsibility for
relationships
This has two parts.

The first is to accept the fact that other people are as much

individuals as you yourself are

The second part of relationship responsibility is taking

responsibility for communication

The second half of your

life
Managing oneself increasingly leads one to
begin a second career:

move to another kind of organization.

Develop a parallel career.
Social entrepreneurs (another activity, usually

a non profit)
people who manage the second half of their lives
may always be a minority
The majority may retire on the job

Conclusion:
Success on the knowledge economy comes

to those who know themselves- their

strengths, their values, and how they best
perform.
We should know ourselves to give our best
performance.
When we know our strength, values and how
do I work, then we can easily know where do I
belong and what contribution I can give to
certain work.
