LIFE MANAGEMENT OF

TRANSFORMER AND SWITCHYARD

EQUIPMENTS

PERIODICAL MAINTANANCE

A combination of actions carried out to return an

items to or restore it to, an acceptable condition.

AGENDA FOR RLA

To avoid un-predicted failures/
unplanned shutdown.
To Understand the deterioration
level of insulations.
To regain the lost capacity in
planned shutdown activities.
To extend the useful life beyond
designed life of 25 years.

TARGETS IN OUR
ASSESSMENTS
Give an Overview of current scenario of the
system
Clear Identification of weak points
Proposal for specific inspections to identify the
problem and necessary
Rough overview of necessary repair /
modernization scope

TARGETS IN OUR
ASSESSMENTS (Contd)
To identify deterioration in the insulation due to
aging or poor maintenance
To evaluate the reliability, efficiency and safety of
the equipment
Based on the evaluation, Utilities can develop a
strategic replacement plan for particular
equipment in such a way to avoid an un expected
failure and minimize the risk

PLANNING METHODOLOGY
Site Study, Collection of factory test data, History of
faults was happened and assessments of general
view in impact of the faults
Finalization of action plan for carrying out detailed
study and tests.
Preparation of testing program schedule and send to
the customer for getting approval.
Made the test procedure, test formats and get the
approval from the client end.
Executing the test according to the program
schedule

SAFETY ACTIONS
Electrical Specimens had been isolate from other
electrical equipments and from the induction
using temporary earth switches and verify with
induction tester.
Get the approval for Dos & Donts before
conducting the tests.
Engineers had been ensured their safety
assessments of wearing the helmets, Gloves,
Goggles & Safety Shoes.
