SYNOPSIS..
Cheat! by Allan Baillie is a thought-provorking tale of lynne
webbing,who has an internal conflict after losing the HolmesWatkins Medal for short story writing to Geoff
Bolder.Initially,she is tense and impatient while waiting for
Mr.Velos to announce the result.Her interior monologue betrays
her secret thought and the fact that she really wants to win.geoff
realise that Lynne is very dissapointed and jokes about how the
winner was chosen.Lynne temporarily feels better,but then
discovers that Geoff had stolen the plot and main character of his
short story from a tale by William Bradburie ,a famous author.She
consider telling Mr Velos,the principal,that Geoff has
cheated.Then,she is called into the principals office.Mr Velos tells
her that Geoff wants to be disqualified even though he technically
did not cheat,.Geoff even apologises to Lynne after their meeting
with that principal.In the end,Lynne gets the medal she wanted so
much,but she does not feel very good about it.
ALLAN BAILLIE
Allan baillie born 28 January 1943 is an
Australian writer.he was born in Scotland ,but
moved with his family to australia when he was
seven.his first job was working as a Cadet
Journalist then he began to work as a journalist
working as the Melbourne Sun,The Telegraph and
The Australian Womens Weekly having studied
journalism at Melbourn University.Turning to
literature his books include Adrift,Little Brother
and The China Coin .He lives in Sydney,Australia
with his wife and two children.
