PROJECT BACKGROUND
The proposed PIRR is a dual 2 lane
carriageway
Total length is 3.9km
Located beside and along riverside of
Pulau Indah and to be constructed on soft
alluvium deposits
GENERAL GEOLOGY
Proposed site is predominantly located at the alluvium
deposits (according to the Geological Map of Selangor, Sheet
93 1975 published by Minerals and Geoscience Department)
Geological Map : The alluvium was deposited during the
Quarternary period.
The alluvium deposit mainly consists of very soft to soft
Silty CLAY and clayey/sandy SILT with the presence of sand
ans sea shells.
Below the topsoil is a layer of very soft to soft compressible
clay, which has been described as MARINE CLAY. This soft
clay is light grey in colour and varies from very soft to very
stiff silty CLAY to sandy CLAY.

Subsoil Condition
Depth of boreholes form the existing ground surface
ranges from 60m to 70m
Most of the subsoil condition shows thin layer (<5m
thick) of sandy material on top of the existing ground
levels throughout the mainline, indicating previous fill
First top 30m to 45m of the subsoil consists of
relatively soft overburden materials with SPT-N value
<5 with intermediate layers of thin sand lenses
SPT-N increased gradually with depth
No bedrock layer detected or encountered until down
70m below existing ground level
